INTRODUCTION

The Ivy Review Inc. is an educational consulting company founded by Harvard University graduates in 1988 to promote and assist 3rd—12th grade students and their parents. The Ivy Review

pedagogy includes the academic, ethical, and moral development of all students enrolled. We seek to

create future leaders through global community awareness and educational opportunities for students. Our alumni include 6,000 high-achieving students who have graduated from the nation’s most

prestigious universities. The Ivy Review offers comprehensive academic programs which aim to

provide students with a road map to the college of their choice through motivation building, life goal setting, study skills, academic counseling, and much more.

All our students have received undivided attention and acquired life values that they would

otherwise not find at home, school, or in the work force. The Ivy Review programs excite the students

and challenge them to accomplish their life goals. The Ivy Review programs recognize the students’ talents and motivate them to nurture their own skills and encourage them to find creative ways to

exercise their gifts. The Ivy Review programs equip students with much more than formal pedagogy;

they impart on the students the tools to independently transform their interests into tangible plans, goals, and social contributions. The Ivy Review’s ingenious techniques engage the students in their academics

leading them toward brighter futures.

ALEX HULL, FOUNDER AND CEO

Director, Alex Hull graduated from Harvard University with an M.Ed. He has

evaluated over 20,000 applications during his three years working as an external

reader for the University of California, Berkeley. He has interviewed candidates for

Harvard University as an Alumni Interviewer since 1991. Hull has held countless free

college entrance seminars throughout California. He has also led seminars sponsored

by the U.S. Embassy in Korea and China. In 2009, he authored ―U.S. Top Colleges –

American Dream‖ to provide an insider’s perspective on U.S. college admissions

process. His unique perspective was reported in the AP News on February 23, 2009, leading to special

feature articles in ethnic newspapers and invitations to speak at T.V. interviews, career expos, and book

tours. He has also written numerous columns on education for Korea Times and Korea Daily and has been

invited as a guest speaker on KBS and Korea-America Radio.

Hull is a ―hands-on‖ CEO, which enables him to get directly involved with The Ivy Review

programs. As a first generation Korean American, Hull uses his personal story of immigrant success to

touch the lives of each of his students and motivate them to accomplish great goals in their future. He does

everything in his power to make certain that the people in his care succeed not only for the sake of

achieving their goals, but to maintain self motivation to pursue life aspirations they are passionate about.

His penchant for inspiring his students and applying innovative means to help them nurture their talents is

evident in the hundreds of students who have graduated Magna and Summa Cum Laude from top

universities to pursue careers in which they are making lasting contributions to society.

PROGRAMS

SAT I, PSAT, SSAT PREP. CLASSES

This program consists of instruction in Critical Reading, Writing, and Math for SAT I preparation. Many of the students and parents wholeheartedly recommend The Ivy Review to their friends and

relatives. The classes are taught using The Ivy Review textbooks which include information not only on

the SAT I but also instruction on how to write an essay, how to study vocabulary, note taking skills, test

taking strategies, time management, and other academic information needed to be a successful student. A distinctive service is the parents workshops which offer up-to-date college admissions information for the

University of California, Stanford, and Ivy League schools. In addition, The Ivy Review offers

information on what each student needs to do each year, and offers strategic advice based on the students’ current positions. After attending one of these workshops, one of the mothers said, ―Within an hour, this

workshop has given me all the answers that I have been searching for the past two years!‖

THE IVY REVIEW BOOT CAMPS

The Ivy Review also holds intensive academic boot camps each year for the Ivy Review and Ivy

Junior Programs. These camps offer the same curriculum over an intensive schedule. In addition, students participate in field trips to museums and historical sites, and campus tours to Stanford University,

UC Berkeley, and Santa Clara College. Word about the effectiveness of this camp has spread to New

York, North Carolina, Canada, China, Singapore, Taiwan, and Korea. In 2009, the average SAT I score improved by 249 points to the great satisfaction of students and parents alike.

1:1 COLLEGE APPLICATION COACHING PROGRAM

This program prepares juniors for their upcoming college application by giving them an early start to strengthen their application package. Starting with an in-depth analysis of the student’s academic

history, aptitude, environment, extracurricular activities, and student and parent surveys, The Ivy Review

consultants work directly with each student to develop a strong application package that enhances the strengths and uniqueness of each student to meet the admissions criteria of the school of their choice.

Students will receive an action plan to boost their GPA and course requirements and recommendations for

extracurricular activities. Drafting of the personal statement starts early and goes through several

revisions to showcase the student’s uniqueness. Our consultants will work not only as application advisors, but they will also help the students develop long term life goals and life planning, motivate the

students to focus on their studies, and coach college survival skills to meet the rigorous demands of

college academics. During the summer, students will participate in a four day workshop, to attend college application workshops, complete their applications, and receive 1:1 consultations. Ongoing support will

be offered until December 15, 2010. Enrollment is limited, and all students must go through an interview

before being accepted.

THANK YOU IVY REVIEW!

All the Korean students from Silicon Valley who have been accepted to Harvard University in 2004,

2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 have attended The Ivy Review. Many of our students who have been admitted to the

top colleges in the U.S. have thanked The Ivy Review saying, ―Had it not been for the help of The Ivy Review, I

never would have been accepted.‖

"The Ivy Review did much more than simply improve my SAT score; they helped me with every aspect of

college admissions. I could not have gotten into my first-choice school without The Ivy Review."

Solomon Lee, Harvard/Stanford

"The Ivy Review has helped me immensely by providing not only the ideal resources for test preparation but

also the motivation and drive to succeed beyond academics and build upon my personal goals. Thank you for

your guidance!"

Eunice Lee, Stanford

"Thank you so much for all the guidance in college admissions! I learned some valuable information about the

process that definitely gave me an edge. The personal interaction and advice, the college interview prep and

the workshops all helped me tons. Not to mention the SAT preparation that helped me crack the standardized

test wide open. Thanks again!"

Sam Rosenberg, Harvard/Yale

"I remember in junior year the jittery feelings I started having about college admissions. „How am I going to

distinguish myself from all the other thousands of hopeful applicants out there?‟ The Ivy Review was one of the

key answers. I really do not think I would have made it to Stanford without your help."

Hui Ye Zhang, Stanford

"The Ivy Review has changed my life so much! Before I came to The Ivy Review, I thought that good grades

alone would get me into a prestigious university. After I took the program though, I learned so much more

about the college process! The Ivy Review made the Ivy League dream into a reality for me!"

Theodora Tran, Brown/UCLA

"I would first like to thank you so much for your guidance and mentorship. You not only shared your academic

expertise but your passion for serving others and your drive for excellence."

June Ho Kim, Harvard

"I have to say that The Ivy Review has greatly exceeded my expectations. I felt that the instructors really

worked with me and taught me many new and insightful strategies for studying and taking the College Board

tests."

Steven Hao, Yale

"The Ivy Review has been such a tremendous help. The more time I spend at Harvard, the more I realize how

much your advice and counseling have truly brought me to where I am today. I wouldn't even have had that

choice if it weren't for your guidance and aid. Thank you so much."

David Seo, Harvard

"Thanks to The Ivy Review, I was accepted early to Stanford this year! I owe them so much for giving me not

only the best educational guidance available, but also the motivation and desire to succeed."

Sally Chang, Stanford

"Thank you for your continued guidance and support as I prepared to apply to colleges and later needed to

select the one to attend."

Steve Lee, Harvard

“When the path to college entrance was foggy, The Ivy Review explained every aspect of the college admissions process clearly.”

Sophia Lee's Mother, Stanford / Harvard

“I have compared many college consulting firms and none of them offered the expertise and passion as The Ivy Review.”
