WELCOME/FÁILTE

The Christmas Show at Creagh is really a celebration of the year’s work and a

chance for members to come together in a festive atmosphere. As always at

Christmas there is an emphasis on youth- Santa, foals, young musicians and

dancers.

There is a special welcome and enthusiasm at Creagh which comes from the

Carey family and thanks to them for that and for their preparations. Thanks as

well to the Performance Committee , particularly to chair Gearoid Curran and

secretary Mrs. Peoples. The Committee should be very pleased with its body

of work throughout the year,- Loose Jumping and Green Hunter

Championships, clinics, training days, judges qualification and now this

celebratory show. Well done to all.

CPBS Sponsored Top Placed Connemara’s 2014 Starfinder of the Future

Myshall Man and Mikey Pender

The Starfinder of the Future is a competition for 6 & 7yr old ponies,

with 6yr olds jumping 1.10m, and 1.15m in the jump off, and 7yr olds

jumping 1.15, and 1.20 in the jump off. The 10 top ponies at each

qualifier may go to the final where there are two pre qualifiers, leaving

the top 25 ponies for the final, which is held at the National Pony

Championships. The CPBS is delighted to be associated with this

Championship, and each year sponsor €500 to the top placed

Connemara at the final of Starfinder

This year the Starfinder of the Future was awarded to Myshall Man and

Mikey Pender (photo below)

Mikey Pender on Myshall Man won the final of Starfinder Pony of the

Future, being presented with rosette and €500 by Ann Reade on behalf

of the CPBS as top placed Connemara Pony. Myshall Man is by Wings

of Justice, ex Shangarry Lady who is by Oisin, owned by Mikey Pender

and bred by PJ Roberts.

Eventing Ireland

Novice – Laburnum Ineer and Emma Kennedy

Emma Kennedy and Laburnum Ineer won the Novice League on an

impressive 54 points. Laburnum Ineer is the 2005 by: Coosheen

Stormboy and ex: Starlit (by: Maam Hill). This combination also

competed in the individuals at the European championships in Millstreet

during the summer.

Elementary – Annagh Storm and Anna Kelly

Well done to Anna Kelly riding Annagh Storm who stole the EI100

League on a huge 102 points. Anna and Annagh Storm also travelled to

Millstreet in July to compete in the CPBS Derby competition.

Dressage Ireland Blackwood Dancer and Alana Cazabon Sullivan Tom Mac Lochlainn presented Alana Cazabon Sullivan with a cheque for

€100 and a rosette for the top placed Connemara at the winter finals of

Dressage Ireland. Alana was riding the 16 yr old grey gelding Blackwood

Dancer (by: Ferdia and ex: Dancing Queen) owned by Judy Cazabon and Enda

Keane. Alana also qualified Blackwood Dancer along with another pony (non

Connemara) for the European Championship in Millstreet during the summer.

Irish Pony Society Awards 2013 2014 awards won’t be announced until January 2015

Aran Bobby Trophy

Damien McDonald (CEO of HSI) presenting the awards to the riders of

the two highest placed Connemara ponies in the IPS awards in January

2014. Winner of the highest placed Connemara in the Open Working

Hunter and awarded the Aran Bobby Trophy was Cahangh Prince (by:

Westside Mirah & ex: Cahanaghs Princess) owned by Des O’Sullivan

and ridden by Alan O’Sullivan was awarded a rosette and cheque for

€150 sponsored by the CPBS.

The top placed ridden Connemara which attained the most points in

2013 was Derrymore Paddy Finn, owned by Philippa Mansergh-

Wallace and ridden by Esme Mansergh-Wallace was also presented

with a cheque for €100 and a rosette sponsored by the CPBS.
