Save a website in your Favourites list

Choose ‘Favourites’ and “Add to Favourites”

Organising your Favourites

You can…..

Create foldersMove between foldersDrag to different foldersRenameDelete

Select & Copy text / images

To select text, click at the start of the text

Hold the click, then move the mouse to the end of the text you want to copy

The text becomes highlighted

Cut and paste a highlighted section into word: right-click and “copy”

Open word and click on the ‘paste’ icon

The work you selected can now be saved in word (Save As….)

You could choose to save the information directly from the web page - select ‘Page’ and ‘Save As’ from the toolbar

Save as type:

1. Web Page complete…2. Web Archive, single file…3. Web Page, HTML only…4. Text file…

There maybe other options, depending on your browser!

***Remember to save your work on a pen drive or the ‘m’ drive.

Web Page complete…This saves the page and creates a subfolder

containing the graphics etc.

Web Archive, single file…Does what it says on the tin: stores everything

into a single file.

Web Page, HTML only…Low graphics option.

Issues and solutions on printing from the internet

Information does not fit on a standard A4 sheetHighlight what you need and save in a word

document then print – as detailed in previous slides

Printing un-necessary pagesChoose “print preview”– see next slides

Printing from the Internet, continued..

Some Websites have, “Printer friendly” option, which formats the

page for printing.Low Graphics option that may print better.Have the content available as a download.

Shrink to fit,The latest browsers, such as Firefox, Internet

Explorer 7 (IE7) etc. have this option: saves having to select Landscape format from the print setup.
