These Official Rules (“Rules”) govern the Data Center Pentathlon Contest (“Contest”) and set out the terms and conditions between Intel Corporation and its affiliates (“Intel,” “Sponsor,” or “us/we”) and each participant (“Participant,” “Entrant” “Contestant or “you”). 1. Eligibility: Contest is open only to registered attendees of the Intel® Developer Forum taking place

at the Moscone West Convention Center in San Francisco, CA on August 16, 2016 – August 18, 2016 (“Event”), who are at least the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence at the time of entry. Employees, officers and representatives (and members of their immediate families and those living in the same household of each) of Intel Corporation, Prowess Consulting, LLC, their parents, subsidiaries and affiliated companies, advertising and promotion agencies and any company involved in the design, execution, production or judging of this promotion (“contest entities”) are ineligible. Void where prohibited.

2. How to Participate: The Contest consists of four (4) Daily Challenges (“Daily Challenge”) and one

(1) Masters Challenge (“Masters Challenge”). The Daily Challenges and the Masters Challenge are referred to collectively as the “Challenges”. You may compete in one or more of the Daily Challenges to win Daily Prizes (defined in Section 4 below). However, only participants who have participated in all 4 Daily Challenges are eligible to advance to the Masters Challenge. To participate, go to the Intel Data Center Zone on the 2nd floor concourse at the Moscone West Convention Center in San Francisco, California, (“Booth”) during the following dates and time to register:

August 16, 2016 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time (“PT”) August 17, 2016 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. PT

To register, your badge will be scanned. Then, if you are participating in your first Daily Challenge, a concierge will hand you a tablet running a custom application. You will be asked to enter a user name, e-mail address or optional phone number that will only be used to contact you if you win a Daily Prize and/or advance to the Masters Challenge. User data will be used to track time scores and to display standings on a leaderboard. Game name and time only will be displayed. The Rack Stack Daily Challenge and the Snap Daily Challenge will be offered on August 16, 2016 during the times set forth above. The Silicon Photonics Daily Challenge and the Network Transformation Daily Challenge will be offered on August 17, 2016, during the times set forth above. Participation in the Daily Challenges is on a first-come first serve basis. The Masters Challenge will be held on August 18, 2016 between 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. PT. For each Challenge, you will be given a set of instructions, which you may also review here and/or you may obtain printed versions of the instructions at the Booth.

3. Judging: Each Daily Challenge will be timed within 1/100th of a second. Sponsor’s computer will be

the official timekeeper for the Contest. The Contestant with the lowest (fastest) time for successfully completing the applicable Daily Challenge will be the potential winner of the applicable Daily First Place Prize. The Contestant with the second lowest (fastest) time for successfully completing the applicable Daily Challenge will be the potential winner of the applicable Daily Second Place Prize. The Contestant with the third lowest (fastest) time for successfully completing the applicable Daily Challenge will be the potential winner of the applicable Daily Third Place Prize. After all Daily Challenge entry periods have ended, on or about 7:00 p.m. on August 17, 2016, the three (3) Contestants with the lowest (fastest) combined time for all 4 Daily Challenges will be notified by email that they have advanced to the Masters Challenge. Please make sure to check your spam filter. If you are notified that you have advanced to the Masters Challenge, you must check in at the Booth by 10:00 a.m. on August 18, 2016 and if you fail to do so, you will forfeit participation in the Masters Challenge, and the Sponsor may select the Contestant with the next lowest (fastest) time to participate in the Masters Challenge. The Masters Challenge will be timed within 1/100th of a second. The Contestant with the lowest (fastest) time for successfully completing the Masters Challenge will be the potential winner of the Masters Challenge Grand Prize. The Contestant with the second lowest (fastest) time for successfully completing the Masters Challenge will be the potential winner of the Masters Challenge Second Place Prize. The Contestant with the third lowest (fastest) time for successfully completing the Masters Challenge will be the potential winner of the Masters Challenge Third Place Prize.

In the event of a tie for any Daily Challenge, the tied Contestant who has successfully completed the most total Challenges will be the potential winner of the applicable Daily Challenge. If there is still a tie, the tied Contestants will each receive the applicable Daily Prize. In the event of a tie for the Masters Challenge, the Contestant with the lowest time on the Rack Stack Challenge will be the potential winner of the Masters Challenge. If there is still a tie, the Contestant with the lowest time on the Snap Challenge will be the potential winner of the Masters Challenge. If there is still a tie, the Contestant with the lowest time on the Silicon Photonics Challenge will be the potential winner of the Masters Challenge. If there is still a tie, the Contestant with the lowest time on the Network Transformation Daily Challenge will be in the potential winner of the Masters Challenge.

Judges’ decisions are final. ALL LEADERBOARD RESULTS ARE UNOFFICIAL. If failure to complete Challenge is due to participant error or participant damage to the system, the participant is disqualified from the Challenge. Sponsor reserves the right to remove a Contestant from a Challenge or the Contest if Sponsor believes, in its sole discretion, that the Contestant has, or is about to, cause damage to the Challenge technology or equipment.

Limit of one prize per potential winner. Potential Winners will be announced at approximately 11:30 a.m. PDT on August 18, 2016 at the Contest Location. The potential winners may be required to complete an Eligibility Confirmation and a Liability/Publicity Release (unless prohibited by law). If not present at announcement, potential winners will be notified via email within five (5) of days after judging. If after seven (7) days of the notification to the potential winning Participant, no acknowledgement or response is received, then the prize for that Participant will be deemed forfeited and no alternative Participant will be awarded the forfeited prize.

The Confirmation and the Release must be returned within ten (10) days of receipt of these documents. Non-compliance with any of these requirements may result in forfeit of the prize. Physical prizes will be sent to confirmed winners within 30 days from the date of the return the completed Affidavit of Eligibility and/or Liability/Publicity Release.

Substitution or transfer of Prizes is not allowed, and Prizes may not be redeemed for cash. If a Prize becomes unavailable or is prohibited by law Sponsor may at its sole discretion award a substitute prize of equal or greater value. The winner accepts responsibility for all federal, state and local taxes and fees in connection with the prizes.

Apart from prizes offered as part of the Contest, no monetary compensation will be paid for your Contest participation. Sponsor is not responsible for Contest registration requests not received due to lost, failed, delayed or interrupted connections or miscommunications, or other electronic malfunctions. Sponsor is not responsible for incorrect or inaccurate entry information, whether caused by you or any other persons or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest. COMPLIANCE CERTIFICATION: Intel is committed to compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and ethics rules. This notice is intended to ensure that your participation in this Contest will not violate any such laws, regulations, policies or rules. Intel seeks no promises or favoritism for itself or any of its affiliates in exchange for the opportunity to participate in the Contest. By entering the Contest, (i) you agree that your participation in the Contest – including your acceptance of any potential prize – will not violate any law, regulation, policy or rule of your country, state or government agency; and (ii) you certify that any potential prize is not in exchange for an agreement to influence a recent, pending or anticipated act or decision that may result in Intel obtaining or retaining business or a business advantage.

5. Sponsor’s Warranties and Disclaimers: Sponsor does not provide any warranty on the prize, and winner should look solely to manufacturer for warranty. To the fullest extent allowable by law, Sponsor specifically disclaims any representations or warranties, express or implied, regarding the Contest or the prizes including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose and implied warranties arising from course of dealing or course of performance.

6. Release of Liability and Issues of Law: By participating, all entrants release Sponsor,

Administrator, their affiliates, partners, subsidiaries, officers, directors, agents, employees and all entities associated with the development and execution of this promotion (“Released Parties”) from any and all liability with respect to and in any way arising, directly or indirectly, from participating in this promotion, acceptance or use of prizes, or downloading of information in connection with the Contest, including, without limitation, any injury or damage to an Entrant's or third person's computer, any server failure or lost, delayed or corrupted data or other malfunction).

The Released Parties assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of entries. The Released Parties are not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or telephone lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by Intel on account of technical problems, human error or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site, or any combination thereof,

All Federal, state and local laws and regulations are applicable. THE DELAWARE COURTS (STATE AND FEDERAL) SHALL HAVE SOLE JURISDICTION OF ANY CONTROVERSIES REGARDING THE

CONTEST AND THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE SHALL GOVERN THE CONTEST. EACH ENTRANT WAIVES ANY AND ALL OBJECTIONS TO JURISDICTION AND VENUE IN THOSE COURTS AND HEREBY SUBMITS TO THE JURISDICTION OF THOSE COURTS. The Contest is void where restricted or prohibited by law. Sponsor’s entire liability and your sole and exclusive remedy will be limited to a distribution of the equivalent amount of prizes as set forth above. By participating in the Contest, you waive any and all rights to bring any claim or action related to such matters in any forum beyond one (1) year after the first occurrence of the kind of act, event, condition or omission upon which the claim or action is based.

7. Generally: Sponsor may make changes to these Rules at any time without notice to you. The most

current version of the Rules will be available at http://www.intel.com/datacenterpentathlon These Rules prevail in the event of any conflict or inconsistency with any other communications, including advertising or promotional materials

If, for reasons beyond Sponsor’s control (including, but not limited to, tampering or computer virus infection), the Contest is not capable of running as originally planned, Intel, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to cancel or modify the Contest, without liability. Any person attempting to defraud or in any way tamper with this Contest and any person who does not comply with these Rules, will be ineligible for any prize(s) and may be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Rack Stack Daily Challenge OFFICIAL RULES

Welcome to the Rack Stack Daily Challenge! Be prepared to stack blocks like a pro and compete with fellow participants to see who is the ultimate winner.

What is the goal of the challenge? Participants will compete to build the ‘rack’ tower as fast as possible.

The goal is to build the tower to 4 ft. in the least amount of time

Those who do not finish the game before 7 minutes will receive a total time score of 10 minutes

How do I play? As part of the Pentathlon Contest, Intel will offer a unique Rack Stack Daily Challenge (“Challenge”) at Intel Developer Forum (IDF) 2016 (“Event”) at the Moscone West Convention Center in San Francisco, CA on August 16, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time. Intel Data Center Zone on the 2nd floor concourse. READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE STARTING THE GAME, NO RESTARTS. This Challenge consists of 56 Solid timbers measuring 7.5 x 2.5 x 1.5 inches. The blocks will be stacked in rows of three by game monitors before each game. To stack the blocks: place them in levels of three next to each other along their long sides and at a right angle to the previous level. Moving blocks in the Rack Stack Challenge consists of:

1. Taking one block from any level of the tower and moving it to the topmost level.

a. Players are only allowed to use one hand at a time. Players are allowed 2 accidental

touches and then will be disqualified.

b. Players can tap a block to find a loose one.

c. *Players are not allowed to stack the blocks on their short side in order to gain more

height.

2. There will be a fixed ruler next to each set of blocks. The height of the tower will be measured

continuously throughout gameplay by the game proctor to keep track of the player’s progress

toward the goal height. Game proctor must validate game goal was achieved correctly.

3. To begin the timer, the contestant hits start on the tablet. Once the goal height has been met, the

contestant hits end. Time will be calculated.

At the end of the Challenge Entry Period, the top three contestants with the lowest (fastest) time will be the potential winners of the Challenge and eligible to receive a Daily Challenge Prize.

How Do I Get to the Final Pentathlon Masters Challenge? In order to qualify for the Masters Challenge on Day 3, Thursday August 18, 2016, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Pacific Time, you must successfully complete all four Daily Pentathlon Challenges on days one and two. The three participants with the lowest (fastest) total combined times for those four Challenges will be the Finalists eligible to compete in the Masters Challenge on day three. If a Finalist does not respond to the email notification or fails to show up at the designated time (Thursday August 18, 2016 10:00 a.m. PT) to participate in the Masters Challenge, the Contestant with the next lowest (fastest) overall score will be contacted to compete in the Masters Challenge. However, to receive the best chance of competing in the Masters Challenge in the event of a no-show is to be present at the start of the Masters Challenge (10:00 a.m. PT) in case you are the Contestant with the next lowest (fastest) overall time.

What’s the Fine Print? Each Challenge will be timed within 1/100th of a second. In the unlikely event of a tie for any Daily Challenge, the tied Contestant who has successfully completed the most total Challenges will be the potential winner of the applicable Daily Challenge. If there is still a tie, the tied Contestants will each receive the applicable Daily Prize. Challenge play availability is on a first-come, first-served basis and is limited to available game stations and set hours set forth in the Official Rules. In addition to competing in the Challenge, you may receive a t-shirt if, upon completing the Challenge, you also answer the post game survey. Surveys are not a condition of entry in the Pentathlon and will not be considered in the scoring of the Pentathlon. T-shirts are based on availability, and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants must register to play on-site at Intel Developer Forum (IDF) 2016. All participants must provide a Challenge name and valid e-mail address or phone number in order to be eligible to win. E-mail addresses and phone numbers will be used only for the purpose of contacting finalists and winners. Sponsor will be collecting personal information in accordance with its privacy policy. Snap Telemetry Daily Challenge OFFICIAL RULES

Welcome to the Snap Telemetry Daily Challenge! Snap provides a real-time view of cloud and data center infrastructure capabilities, utilization, and events for data center managers. Time to put on your sleuthing hat and get ready to solve your IT infrastructure problem. Your goal is to use the Snap telemetry framework and Grafana* visualizations to troubleshoot and fix your data center problem. In this challenge, you will need to:

1. Use the tools on the laptop dashboard to identify the infrastructure problem, location, and

cause of the problem

How Do I Play the Snap Telemetry Challenge? As part of the Pentathlon Contest, Intel will offer a unique Snap Telemetry Daily Challenge (“Challenge”) at Intel Developer Forum (IDF) 2016 (“Event”) at the Moscone West Convention Center in San Francisco, CA on August 16, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time. Intel Data Center Zone on the 2nd floor concourse. READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE STARTING THE GAME, NO RESTARTS.

1. On the provided tablet, select the number for the scenario given to you by the proctor.

2. Tap Start to start the timer and begin the Challenge.

Part 1: Identify the service issue

3. Use the Snap and Grafana tools on the laptop to select and view dashboards to identify a problem

within the data center infrastructure.

4. Select your answer from the options presented in the tablet app.

5. If you answer correctly, proceed to Part 2.

6. If you select the wrong choice, you will have the opportunity to try one more time. However, you

are only offered one re-try for the entire game, so choose carefully.

Part 2: Identify the location

7. Based on your answer to part 1, select a Service Performance dashboard with relevant

information, and then use the Task Launcher to populate graphs with additional Snap telemetry

data to locate the issue.

8. Select your answer from the options presented in the tablet app.

9. If you answer correctly, proceed to Part 3.

In the Network Transformation Daily Challenge (“Challenge”), you will need to put on your IT hat and create an optimized network that brings speed and efficiency to your virtual company. You will make networking decisions through a series of questions in order to optimize a virtualized network while staying within a fixed budget. Your goal is to solve the challenge as quickly as possible, in order to beat the times of other gamers. To win the challenge, you need to answer four questions correctly, as quickly as possible.

How Do I Play the Network Transformation Challenge? As part of the Pentathlon Contest, Intel will offer a unique Network Transformation Daily Challenge (“Challenge”) at Intel Developer Forum (IDF) 2016 (“Event”) at the Moscone West Convention Center in San Francisco, CA on August 17, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time. Go to the Intel Data Center Zone on the 2nd floor concourse. READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE STARTING THE GAME, NO RESTARTS.

1. On your provided tablet, tap Start to start the timer and begin the challenge.

2. Answer the first question as quickly as possible, and then tap Next to continue. Your optimization

Welcome to the Pentathlon Masters Challenge! If you’ve reached this stage, you’re one of the top pentathlon participants. In this challenge, your goal is to complete several hardware and software tasks as quickly as possible, in order to beat the times of your two competitors. To complete the challenge, you will need to:

Add some components to the server chassis, turn it on and verify a successful boot

Configure some settings within OpenStack* software

Provision a workload running a photo editing app, and then take, process, and display a

photo using that app

How Do I Play the Masters Challenge? As part of the Pentathlon Contest, Intel will offer to Pentathlon Finalists the Masters Challenge (“Challenge”) at Intel Developer Forum (IDF) 2016 (“Event”) at the Moscone West Convention Center in San Francisco, CA on August 18, 2016 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Pacific Time. Intel Data Center Zone on the 2nd floor concourse. In this Challenge, you will need to complete three phases in under 45 minutes.

Phase 1

5. Proceed to your standing workstation. Your designated area will contain hardware components, a

tablet, and a laptop.

6. A proctor will hand you an envelope with instructions for Phase 1 of the Challenge. After you read the

instructions, tap Start on the tablet app to start the timer and begin the Challenge.

7. Follow the instructions to assemble the components in a computer chassis and successfully boot the

machine.

Phase 2

1. When you have completed Phase 1, the proctor will hand you another envelope with instructions for

Phase 2.

2. Follow the instructions to complete a partially configured OpenStack deployment and provision a

workload.

Phase 3

1. When you have completed Phase 2, the proctor will hand you another envelope with instructions for

Phase 3.

2. Follow the instructions to use the laptop to take a selfie photo and process it in Pikazo* software,

which will be running on the system that you configured in Phase 2.

3. As soon as your processed photo displays on the large screen, you’re done! The proctor will stop the

timer.

You can request help at any point in the challenge. However, each time a proctor assists you with a task, you will be assigned a help-desk ticket. Each help-desk ticket represents a ten-minute penalty. At the end of the challenge, your penalty times will be added to your recorded time for a final score. If you complete the Challenge with the fastest time, you will win the Grand Prize! There will also be awards for the second-place and third-place finishers.
