The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India
(ICAI) is a statutory body established under the Chartered
Accountants Act, 1949 (Act No. XXXVIII of 1949) for the
regulation of the profession of Chartered Accountants in
India.
ICAI has achieved recognition as a premier accounting
body not only in India but also globally, for its contribution in
the fields of education, professional development,
maintenance of high accounting, auditing and ethical
standards. ICAI now is the second largest accounting body
in the whole world with a network of more than 250,000
members globally throughout the country and different parts
of the world.
Our Mission
The Indian Accountancy Profession will be the Valued Trustee of World Class Financial competencies, Good
Governance and Competitiveness
ICAI is raising the profile and increasing demand for the accountancy
profession amongst key stakeholders nationally and globally. ICAI role
mainly includes the following:
• Regulate the profession of Accountancy
• Education & Examination of Chartered Accountancy Course
• Input on Policy matters to Government
• Ensuring Standards of performance of Members
• Formulation of Accounting Standards
• Prescription of Engagement and Quality Control Standards
• Laying down Ethical Standards

• Monitoring Quality through Peer Review
• Conducting Post Qualification Courses
The Abu Dhabi Chapter of ICAI was set up in 1984 to
further the technical competency and knowledge of its
members. With a strength of around 700 members, the
Chapter has been hosting seminars and events that are
addressed by eminent speakers and experts. The keen
interest shown by the members in participating in the
Chapter’s activities over the years is a tribute to the thirst for
knowledge and the desire of the Indian professionals to be
at the leading edge of managerial advancements.

27th Annual International Seminar
The key event in the Chapter's professional
activities calendar is the Annual International
Seminar (“Seminar”), which has been a regular
feature on the Chapter's calendar since the first
such Seminar in October 1988.
The Chapter is organising its 27th Annual
International Seminar on 19th and 20th November
2015 on the theme “In It To Win It” at Al Jaheli
Theatre, Armed Forces Officers Club, Abu Dhabi.
This seminar brings together a galaxy of
visionaries, experts and leaders who will brain
storm for one and half days.
The Seminar provides networking while gaining
insight into new approaches for “In It To Win It”
within your organization and to your stakeholders.

Mr. Abdulqader Obaid Ali, CEO of Smartworld, UAE
• Abdulqader Obaid Ali is a CEO of the Smartworld Board, an ICT service provider, which
is a joint venture between Etisalat and Dubai World Central.
• He serves as President of the UAE Internal Audit Association which is affiliated to the
Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), USA.
• He also worked at Dubai World and Dubai Aluminum and has over 30 years of experience
in the field of IT, Quality, HR and Internal Audit.
• He is the first UAE national recipient of the prestigious Wilfred Thesiger Award.

Mr. Tushar Vashisht, CEO, Healthifyme
• Mr. Tushar Vashisht is a Founder and CEO of Healthifyme – India’s First Digital Weight Loss
solution.
• He helped initiate Government of India's Unique ID (UID) project for almost two years.
• Before UID, he spent nearly three years in investment banking / corporate finance with
Deutsche Bank, spread between Silicon Valley and Singapore.
• He graduated from University of Pennsylvania in 2007 with a Bachelor of Applied Sciences,
majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Electrical Engineering.

Mr. Varun Agarwal, Co-Founder and CEO, Alma Mater
• Varun A filmmaker, entrepreneur and a bestselling author. He is 27 years old and has three

Mr. Gary Kirsten, Former Indian Cricket Team Coach
Gary Kirsten is a former South African
cricketer, and the coach of the World
Cup winning Indian cricket team in
2011. Under his guidance the Team
India united a nation to achieve a
dream and the South African team
returned to coveted Number One Test
ranking. He was known by his peers
as a man on whom the team could
depend in the times of crisis.
CA Anil Joseph, Chief Risk Officer, IRSHAD
• Anil T Joseph is a Chartered Accountant, worked with KPMG in their New Delhi and Abu Dhabi
offices for over 8 years and currently working with IRSHAD (part of the ADNOC Group) as Chief
Risk Officer.
• His core specialization has been in the field of Internal Audit, Process Improvements and ERM.
• Anil is also an avid sports buff, who passionately follows all sports in general and cricket in
particular. He occasionally writes articles on cricket, a few of which have published on the
ESPN-Cricinfo website.
Mr. Mohinder Amarnath, Former Indian Cricket Team Player
Mohinder Amarnath is a former
Indian cricketer and current cricket
analyst. He was the Man of the
Series when India won its first
World Cup Cricket tournament in
England in 1983. Mohinder was
seen as the finest Indian batsman
against express pace. Amarnath
was noted for his personality,
courage and determination.

Mr. Adnan Amin, Director General, International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA)
• Adnan Z. Amin was elected as the Director-General of the International Renewable Energy
Agency (IRENA) in April 2011.
• In this capacity he is charged with the responsibility of establishing a sound institutional
management structure and clear strategic vision for the implementation of the agency’s
mandate to promote the adoption and use of renewable energy worldwide.
• Mr. Amin brings to this position over 25 years of experience in the fields of international
environment and sustainable development policy, as well as in the political, management, and
interagency coordination functions of the United Nations (UN) work.
