INTRODUCTIONThank you for purchasing the INPRINT. The INPRINT incor-porates state-of-the-art biometric technology to safeguard your valuable property. It is important that you take a few minutes to read this manual to ensure the proper function of your INPRINT. Also, to better serve you in the future, please complete and return the Warranty Registration Card included to properly register your new INPRINT.

WHATISBIOMETRICTECHNOLOGy?Biometric technology is the recognition of the physical char-acteristics of an individual. Examples are voice patterns, iris or retina differences, handwriting technique and, of course, fingerprints. It has been known for more than 2000 years that an individual’s fingerprint pattern is unique. Through the use of advanced electronics, fingerprint recognition has become a very secure, fast and economical way to determine a person’s identity.

INPRINTThe INPRINT allows you to utilize advanced biometric technology to allow only authorized users to access your valuables.

The INPRINT can enroll up to 15 authorized fingerprints into memory during a simple setup process. Once these finger-prints are captured and encrypted, they can never be stolen from the system.

To gain access, slide your finger across the sensor. The sen-sor scans the fingerprint’s data and compares it against the encrypted fingerprint data in memory. Based on the stored fingerprint information, the INPRINT accepts or rejects access quickly and accurately.

INPRINTFEATURES1. Quick access (requiring only one finger)2. Rugged steel construction3. State-of-the-art technology4. 9v battery power 5. Optional A/C adapter 6. Quick and easy reconfiguration7. Recognizes up to 15 fingerprints8. Spring-loaded door9. Key backup10. Padded lining

IMPORTANTDOSANDDON’TS1. Do Not lock the keys inside the INPRINT. Store them in another location for backup purposes.2. Avoid getting the sensor area wet.3. Avoid exposure to extreme heat or cold, as with all electronics, the battery power may be affected under these conditions.

STEP

The battery is installed inside the INPRINT under-neath the yellow fingerprint sensor. RefFig2.Wedge finger into half round tab at the back of the door. Pull down on one corner to open door and expose the battery hook-ups. Attach battery to hook-ups and snap battery into the clips on the door piece. Snap door back into hole one corner at a time.

Change the battery when the RED light flashes at the end of an operation indicating that battery power is low, or if you notice the opening process slowing.

STEP

The INPRINT incorporates an Administration Button located midway back in the interior ceiling (RefFig3).

1) Pressandholdtoclearallmemory 2) Pressandreleasetoinitiateenrollmentprocess

To clear the INPRINT of all stored fingerprints, locate the Administration Button on the underside of the interior ceiling. Press and hold the button firmly until the RED, YELLOW and GREEN lights rapidly flash together. This indicates that the memory has been completely cleared and all fingerprints are erased. If the INPRINT door is now shut without an enrolled fingerprint, the only access is with the backup keys.

CAUTION: If the Administration Button is pushed and released, the INPRINT will begin an enroll-ment sequence rather than clearing the memory. The RED, YELLOW, and GREEN lights will alternate flashes indicating that the enrollment sequence has failed. Wait until the lights stop, then repeat the procedure above to clear the memory.

STEP

An A/C adapter (optional) allows the sensor to skip the waking process that is necessary on battery power. This makes opening the INPRINT EVEN FASTER. Connect the A/C adapter to the A/C jack and plug the A/C adapter into an electri-cal outlet. If the battery is installed, the GREEN light will blink faintly and a solid YELLOW light will be illuminated. The A/C jack is located next to the Administration Button RefFig4. To plug in the adapter, feed the cord up through a hole located in the back left corner of the bottom panel (the foam lining above the hole will also need to be pulled back for access) RefFig5. Pull approximately 12 inches of cord through the hole. Next, tuck the cord into the vertical seam between the foam lining the sides and run the cord up and into the electronics tray in the back of the unit RefFig5. Reach into the access hole, RefFig4. and connect the end of the cord to the A/C jack.

Note: If power is disrupted to the INPRINT, your enrolled fingerprints will remain securely stored. When power is returned, you will be able to access the contents as you would have before the loss of power.

After a power interruption, the INPRINT may take slightly longer to open on the first attempt.

STEP

The enrollment process is extremely important. Please take your time and become familiar with this process.

To begin the enrollment process, locate the Administration Button on the underside of the interior (RefFig3). This is the same button used to erase the memory in the last step but rather than holding the button you will press and release it.

Press the button once (do not hold down). This will cause the GREEN light to appear solid indicating it is ready to enroll. During enrollment, the YELLOW light indicates you should swipe your finger. Swiping should be done with the finger as flat as possible, centered on the sensor.

Start with the first joint of the finger and using an even, moderate speed pull the finger across the sensor. The INPRINT will ask you to swipe the same finger at least five times in order to successfully enroll. If a RED light comes on during the process it indicates the previous scan was not successful. Do not restart the process, just continue to swipe when the YELLOW light comes on.

When the enrollment process is complete, the solid GREEN light will blink. This indicates the fingerprint was accepted.

Use this same procedure to enroll all finger-prints (up to 15). After 15 fingerprints have been saved, the next fingerprint enrolled will replace the oldest saved fingerprint. You may add fingerprints or erase all saved fingerprints and start over at any time.

STEP

**IMPORTANTPLEASEREAD**To avoid the door hitting your hand, keep all fingers on top of the unit.

Place finger on fingerprint sensor as seen in Ref Fig. 6 above to “wake-up” the sensor. After YELLOW light appears, slide the finger that you have enrolled across the fingerprint sensor exactly as it was enrolled and slide as shown Ref Fig. 6 The INPRINT will scan the finger and compare it to stored fingerprints. When a match occurs, the GREEN light will flash rapidlyand the door will open quickly.

TROUBLESHOOTING:MOSTPROBLEMSOCCURWHEN1) The finger was not positioned the same as when originally enrolled.

2) The finger was slid into place too quickly and did not wake up the sensors.

3) There was too much pressure at the front of the finger. Uniform pressure is suggested.

4) The finger was applied at too much of an angle to be read accurately.

It is important that you practice the sequence several times to make sure that you have the process correct. Once you have the positioning learned, the INPRINT will open quickly and consistently.

BACKUPKEySIf the INPRINT becomes inoperable, you will need to use your keys to open the door. To access the contents of the INPRINT using the key, pull back the lock cover which will give you access to the lock. Insert the key into the lock and turn to release the door catch which will open the front door.

CLEANINGTo clean the surface of the INPRINT use a mild soap and water and soft cloth only. Avoid getting the sensor area wet.

CAUTION: Products that contain ammonia or chlo-rine if sprayed on the fingerprint sensor could cause difficulties reading and enrolling fingerprints and could damage the INPRINT’s finish.

To clean the sensor area, use a slightly damp, dust free cloth to wipe the sensor area.

ACCESSORyINSTRUCTIONSA/C AdapterInstructions for the use and installation of the A/C Adapter can be found on page 6 of this guide.

Mounting BracketTo install the mounting bracket first locate a suitable site. It should be flat and of a suit-able material for screwing into. Position the mounting bracket on the site and screw the four provided screws into the holes at each corner. The screws should tighten to the point that the screw head is flush with the mounting bracket’s plate. Open your INPRINT and pull back the interior foam lining on the bottom surface. The three posts on the mounting bracket correspond with the three holes in the bottom of the INPRINT. Position the posts through the holes and attach via the pro-vided wing nuts. Once all three wing nuts are tightened you may replace the foam lining. Your INPRINT is now securely mounted and ready for use.

Document ShelfInstalling your Document Shelf is simple. With your INPRINT door open locate the slots at either side of the opening. Select the middle or high pos-tion for your shelf and slide the shelf through the front slots. Slide the shelf through until it meets the corresponding slots at the back of the unit. The shelf is fully seated when the front edge is flush with the opening and is supported by the slots at the back. Storage Half Shelf:To install your Storage Half Shelf simply turn the shelf at a 45 degree angle to get it past the opening in your INPRINT. Rotate to fit as close to the rear of the unit as possible. The “legs” should insert into the seams along the edge of the interior foam lining.
