UNESCO UIL - The International Review of Education (IRE) is looking for papers The International Review of Education ndash Journal of Lifelong Learning(IRE) a peer-reviewed journal published by Springer Nature and editedby UNESCO invites article submissions for its general issues andproposals for guest-edited special issues on key and emergingtopics IRE publishes research that explores how the idea of lifelong

Under way Handbook on Lifelong Learning

On 19 and 20 July 2018 experts came together at the UNESCOInstitute for Lifelong Learning to discuss the development of ahandbook on lifelong learning policy development and implementationAn international team of specialists in the field of lifelong learning hasbeen formed to jointly create a practice-oriented handbook that seeksto guide the planning and implementation of national lifelong learning policies The handbook isscheduled for publication in 2019 and will serve as a guiding instrument for policy makers andrelevant stakeholders who are in the process of developing and implementing policies for lifelonglearning It will shed light on aspects such as the governance of lifelong learning policy issuesstrategic approaches to the practical implementation of and financial implications involved inlifelong learning as well as financing and monitoring strategies Read more here

Joint Statement on Citizenship Education amp EU Common Values Partners to the EU Convince project including LLLP members OBESSUand ESHA have published a joint statement regarding citizenshipeducation In the document all organisations claim that education couldplay a stronger role in promoting shared values and educating committedcritical-thinking and active citizens and call for a stronger role of theeducation sector in this field Read the full statement here

Four million refugee children go without schooling UNHCR report The study Turn the Tide Refugee Education in Crisis found that fourmillion refugee children do not attend school an increase of half amillion of out-of-school refugee children in just one year By the end of2017 there were more than 254 million refugees around the world199 million of them under UNHCRrsquos mandate More than half ndash 52 percent ndash were children Read the full report

DG EMPL announces McDonals to join the European Alliance for Apprenticeships McDonalds joins EAfA pledging to create 43000 apprenticeships in Europe by 2025 With itspledge McDonalds has a concrete target to offer 43000 apprenticeships in the UK Germany theNetherlands Italy and Switzerland with the aim to expand to other countries in the futureAlthough it is great to see large multinationals invest in the future of young people LLLP urges notto overload the economic side of apprenticeships at the expenses of the personal and socialdrivers

EESC public hearing on rights and values The EESC is organising a public hearing on the Rights and Values Fund on 3 September from1100 to 1300 CSE President Jean Marc Roirant is responsible for the opinion to be voted on 18October in plenary You can access the programme of the hearing and register here
