Written by Owen and Sanjey Deputy’s Message Education Week Thank you to all the parents, carers and community members who came and shared in our Education Week celebrations. We had a wonderful open day with outstanding performances, open classrooms and special memories made. It was a pleasure to move amongst the classrooms and see children across the school sharing their learning with their lovedHones during open classrooms. Congratulations to our Campbelltown Academic Challenge winners, Arnav, Jordan, Sanjey and Sudhikshaa, all in Year 6, who were acknowledged as local heroes for their academic achievement. Serena in Year 1 was also acknowledged as a local hero for her charity work. Thank you to Mrs Webb and Miss Walmsley for their organisation of the day. 3 Way Conferences Our 3 Way Conferences were very successful with lots of positive feedback from parents, carers and students about the ‘3Hway’ format and also the online booking system. Thank you to parents and carers who attended. The remaining 3 Way Conferences for 4T, 2S and 2/3M are scheduled for Week 6. Discovery Centre Launch & Book Parade The date of this special event has been changed to Monday 24 August 2015. Our parade and the official opening of our Discovery Centre will commence at 9:30am. We would like to extend an invitation to all of our community to come and celebrate with us as well as invite students who will start Kindergarten in 2016 and their parents to come along. If you have a child starting next year or know of anyone who is, please pass on this invitation and come along. Our Film Festival will also run on this day with winners being announced. Get those Film Festival entries in! Paul Nunnari Wheelchair Push & 24 Hour Fight Against Cancer We are very lucky to have been approached by the organisers of the Paul Nunnari Wheelchair Push to have Paul AKA ‘The Other Superman” visit our school this year on his annual wheelchair push to raise money for the 24Hour Fight Against Cancer Macarthur. In order to do our bit and support this wonderful local charity, which helps local cancer patients in many ways, we will be having a heroHthemed mufti day for a gold coin donation. Students may wear any sensible clothing that is related to their hero which may be a sporting, academic, community, family or imaginary hero to name a few. Paul will be pushing through on Friday 11 September 2015 sometime between 10:30am and 12:00pm. We look forward to cheering him on and welcome parents and carers to come along and support on the day too. This year the annual 24Hour Fight Against Cancer Macarthur weekend will be held on the 17H18 October 2015 at Campbelltown Sports Stadium. Our School will be entering a team. Registration isn’t compulsory but is encouraged for adult participants. All registered participants receive a sponsor tHshirt included in their $16 registration fee. Saturday 17 th will be a great family day out with lots of entertainment for the whole family. You can stay for as little or as long as you like and walk a little or, like Mrs Westcott usually does, walk a lot. If you would like to join our Ingleburn Public School team please see Miss O’Reilly, Mrs Westcott or myself for more information. Uniform With the onset of winter there has been an unfortunate decline in the number of students wearing full school uniform. Students who wear full school uniform everyday reflect the strengths, values and high expectations of our great school. They represent our school with pride and embody what being a Safe, Respectful, Learner is. Our school uniform has been selected in close consultation with the parents and is the expected dress at this school for students in all grades. Students representing the school at outsideHschool events must be dressed in full school uniform including a green school hat; this includes all students who attend PSSA. Hats can be purchased at the school canteen for $8. Girls wishing to wear long pants need to wear bottle green slacks or tracksuit pants. Black leggings are not school uniform. The P&C noticeboard outside the hall has a poster outlining uniform for both boys and girls. Please ensure your child/ren are dressed in full school uniform everyday so they reflect the high standard that our community expects. The uniform shop is open every Friday morning. Contact the front office if you require student assistance. Mrs Galway, Relieving Deputy Principal Proudly brought to you by the Journalism Club Term 3 Week 4 2015 Permission to Publish We currently have many students who have not returned a permission to publish note indicating whether we have or don’t have permission to publish student information. As a result there are a limited number of students whose images and/or recordings we can share via our media channels. From time to time the school may wish to publish information about your child for the purposes of sharing his/her experiences with other students, informing the school and broader community about school and student activities and recording student participation in noteworthy projects or community service. With so many wonderful things happening at our school we like to share these experiences with parents, other schools and the broader community via our newsletter, website, class blogs, Twitter and YouTube feeds. We take care in ensuring that images and/or recordings of children are carefully selected before being used and generally limit personal details published to first name and grade. We respect parents’ right to deny permission however for those who have not returned notes we ask that you complete and return the note indicating your preference. To view examples of how we use student information please review our newsletters, website and Twitter feed, which also features on the homepage of our website. If you would like more information please see the Permission to Publish note or contact Miss Bell or Mrs Galway.
