Somatic cell count (SCC) is widely used as an indicator for healthstatus of the udder. Somatic cell counts can be run on milk fromthe bulk tank as an indicator of herd mastitis status. Bulk tank SCCindicates the overall level of mammary inflammation in the milk-ing herd at each milking. It is the bulk tank SCC that is used bythe milk processor to determine milk quality premiums to the pro-ducer. The aim of this study was to investigate evolution somaticcell counts from milk composition to treatment with microwave.Milk samples were exposed to microwave treatment for differentperiods of time (10, 20, 30, 40, 60, and 120 s). From the samplethe somatic cell count was determined using the instrument MT-02®. This instrument is using viscosity to determine the numberof somatic cells, after adding to 10 ml milk and 5 ml coagulationreagent. The somatic cell count was performed only on the milksamples collected in from Timis County. The results showed adecrease for SCC as the microwave time exposure increased andwere in normally limit. For a treatment with microwave at 120 stime of exposure, SCC was below 100,000 cells/ml.

Introduction: Appropriate technologies are necessary to supportmore productive, environmentally friendly resource-efficient andresilient agriculture that supply sufficient food at the same timeprotecting biodiversity and to move towards a low energy, lowemission and low waste economy. The main aim of this study wasto evaluate the effect of LED on production of lettuce. Materialsand methods: Seeds of two varieties of lettuce were grown on per-lite 2 mm diameter under controlled environment (temperature, humidity) and organic fertilizer. The three light treatments were:40% Blue in 60% Red, 30% Blue in 70% Red and White light for 16 hof light and 8 h of darkness. Results: The percentage of germinationwas between 106.9% and 123.64% when exposed to LED comparedwith white light. Weight lettuce seedlings were higher in whitelight for both varieties. Vitamin C content was 35.34–42.23% andbetween 15.2 and 32.4% for carbohydrates in plants illuminated by
LED compared with the ones grown under white light. The contentof chlorophyll pigments was higher with values around 10% forlettuces illuminated by LED. Conclusions: The results clearly show afavorable evolution of quality plants grown under LED light besidesenergy savings offered by them.

Introduction: Cucumbers, one of the species highly valued in con-sumption worldwide is grown and in greenhouses especially in soilconditions. Use of perlite is very little used in Romania becausefarmers do not fully mastered culture technology regarding perliteand organic fertilizer. The main aim of this study was to supportthe growers of cucumbers and to convince them to use of per-lite technology and organic. Materials and methods: The study wasconducted on mattresses filled with perlite with granulation of 2,4 and 5 mm, with control over vegetation factors (temperature, light, humidity, atmospheric CO2, organic and chemical fertilizers). Were used three hybrids. Results: Variants grown on perlite sub-strate with 4 mm granulation to which were used organic fertilizersshowed the highest early yields compared to the other variants. Thefruit analyses showed lower nitrate content in variants fertilizedwith organic products. Moreover the taste and flavor of the fruitwere pronounced compared to fruit grown on the ground. Conclu-sions: The results clearly show a favorable evolution of productionand of quality plants grown on perlite and with organic fertilizers.Furthermore this type of culture offers the possibility of environ-mental protection by replacing soil culture with the culture withoutsoil.

Average economic efficiency calculations performed for the entireperiod of the experimental trial using smooth brome, specieshowed efficacy of biostimulators Green fuse and Mega grow. After applying these two biostimulators, the highest average profitper unit area was recorded (Green fuse D181.70/ha, Mega growD173.80/ha). Economic efficiency obtained following the applica-tion of growth regulators to smooth brome species resulted ina first year production profit/unit area value range from 75.85to 127.00D/ha depending on biostimulator used. The profit valueobtained is up to 12.93% higher compared to the untreated check. In the second year of production, profit/unit area values obtained
