Please RSVP to Charlotte Morrison at 310-339-7330.

Our annual Holiday Potluck Party will be December 21st beginning at 7:00 PM. Non-alcoholic beverages will be provided, but you may bring wine if you choose. Guests are welcome, but we need to know how many people are in your party so we will set up enough tables and chairs. We will also be providing orchid plants, which will be passed out at the end of the party. We need to know how many plants to purchase (one plant per membership), so please RSVP to Charlotte Morrison by December 8. Let her know how many are in your party and if you will be bringing an appetizer, side dish, or main dish. We have enough sign ups for salads and desserts as of this time.

Come prepared for good food, fun times, and friends. We hope to see you there!


December President’s Message

Hello dear friends and members of SBOS,

Well, as the fella once said…."If you do a good job, you might just be asked to do it again" I’m not

sure if I did a good job or they were just in need of someone to be the December president, but

here I am “again”. And, why not? I really enjoy being a part of this great club and all its members.

Still, no one has asked me out to dinner. Oh, well…

As I said before, I would be president every month if it meant helping this wonderful club of which

we are all members. Last month the classroom culture session was very informative thanks to

Arthur Hazboun for his presentation; and folks’ comments afterwards were very positive. And then,

Braulio Mena's Orchid Webinar was fascinating and also garnered much praise. Thank you to our

instructors Arthur and Braulio for their hard work. You all did a great job !!!

This month is our Potluck Holiday Party. YAY !!! a fun evening where all these nice folks get to let

their hair down for a night of good food, drink, and laughs. We are going to try and make this year’s

evening really special, so plan on joining us. We ask everyone to bring a dish of food for 8-10 folks

– entrees, veggie dishes, or appetizers. Please contact Charlotte Morrison 310-339-7330 to help

us coordinate so we do not have 67 dessert dishes and one medium box of KFC. Set up for the

party will be at 10:30am on Friday December 21. We would appreciate any help in getting the hall

ready with the chairs/tables and decorations for the potluck.

At the November meeting I asked and reminded you all to bring a friend to a meeting. We would

love to have meetings that meant 40-60 people were in attendance. That would mean more raffle

ticket sales, better plants up for raffle, more snacks at the break – and most of all, more new

friends. Please bring a friend to the January meeting.

Also, if you have an idea to make the club and or the meetings better, more fun, or more inviting,

please let one of the Board members know, or come to a Board meeting and share your ideas; we

are all open to new ideas. It is held the Tuesday following our regular meeting – 7:00 PM at the

Torrance Airport Offices. It lasts an hour or less.

Finally, WE NEED volunteers to help before, during, and after the meetings. SET-UP and PUT-

AWAY the tables and chairs in the hall, and Kitchen help. My thanks to all who do actively

participate and contribute - their time, their ideas, setting up before the meetings, cleaning up and

putting away afterwards, and the drinks and refreshments in the kitchen and being part of the

Board at our monthly meetings in Torrance. You KNOW who you are and are to be thanked and

congratulated for your hard work. BUT, WE NEED NEW BLOOD !! PLEASE HELP.

This society of ours has been around for a while - and with all our efforts it can be around for a

while more. If you do not know me, please introduce yourself at the next meeting. I'll buy you some

coffee from the kitchen - I'll have a little extra money after this month's extra income !!!! Oh,

wait……...I'm still not gonna get paid !!!! Oh well…
