Welcome and Briefing logistics

• This is not the IETF: Session is organized by the Internet Society

• To inform our and your thinking we want to get your perspectives• The session does not automatically inform the IETF

• Hard stop at 13:15. Please dispose of garbage and leave your spot in proper order. A working group needs to be able to start at 13:30 sharp.

• Video and audio of this session is recorded and broadcasted.

The Open Internet through the Internet Invariants lens:

• Global Reach and General Purpose• Accessibility and Permission less

Innovation• Interoperability, mutual agreement,

and collaboration• Reusable building blocks• No permanent favorites

Today’s Panel…

Does IOT significantly change the Open Internet, or is it just more of the same?

What are the implications of autonomous, always-on, connected, and often constrained devices on the global internet the perspective of the Internet Invariants.

Perhaps less so on the security specifics of recent attacks.

IETF 97

UNH-IOL Testing & Interop Perspective

• Companies deploying IoT Solutions may not be in the business of networking and they need education and guidance.

• Increase confidence by providing multi-vendor environments for connectivity and interoperability testing• Currently a lot of interest for home network environments including GPON, DSL, DOCSIS etc.

• IPv6 Forum Logo Program: One way to increase user confidence is to develop a recognizable and trusted test program that verifies protocol implementation and validates interoperability as per IPv6 standards

● IoT: Utilizing the Core “Must” Test Cases with the addition of Privacy Addressing, DHCP and DNS.● Add Security RFCs like DTLS, Lightweight IKEv2, SCEP● Future Logos: 6LoWPAN/6TiSCH
