90 W. Court St.
Marion, NC 28752
FROM THE OLDFrom the time our High School had an enrollment of 200,
progression here has been unlimited and unceasing.
Our present building was constructed in the 1920's and at
that time was modern both in architecture and equipment.
In 1941, the west wing of the High School, including a
number of classrooms, the library, and part of the auditorium
was destroyed by fire. With the aidof federal funds, this damage
was repaired and the entire high school building modernized.
A gymnasium containing ample space for basketball court,
home economics rooms and a music room was also constructed.
Now we have outgrown our present school
plant and we are ready to begin a new era in
our ultra modern building which is almost
completed.
While we have had physical changes at Marion High School, the
original spirit of friendship and loyalty which accompanied its founding
still exists.
We will try to reveal to you in this yearbook some of these tra-
ditions and experiences during our years of progress in order that they
will remain in a special part of your memory— as long as memory
shall last.
TO THE NEW
WE DEDICATE
MRS. PATTY FINLEY
As you have dedicated yourself to all that is true,
just, and lovely, giving to us wise counsel and lofty
inspiration; so we, the Hylander Club of 1955, dedicatethis annual to you, that you may receive a portion ofthe reward which comes to those who give themselvesto others.
