The Hunger Games: Cornucopia bloodbath scene.

I will be analysing Mise-en-scene, cinematography and editing in this

scene. Below is a link to the clip I will be analysing

Mise-en-sceneCostumes:- the head game maker’s

costume is black and red connoting evil and danger

-The residents of the capitol wear bright and extravagant reflecting their personalities and lifestyles.

-The residents of the districts wear old and dull coloured clothes reflecting their mood at that point and their lifestyle.

mise-en-sceneSetting:- setting looks prison-like and

clinical, showing that there is no escaping the games and suggesting that many people will die (looks like a hospital)

-setting looks very futuristic. It's also very blue which has cold and sad connotations. Bad things can be controlled here.

-this setting looks very dull and old fashioned. Shows the divide from rich and poor.

Mise-en-scene Facial expression:- Katniss looks scared

however Cinna looks calm and reassuring which shows he is a trust worthy person

- People from the capitol are laughing at the tributes, shows they don't care about them and think it's funny that they will die.

-Katniss looks determined and focused showing that she is taking it seriously and knows what she wants to do.

Cinematography Pan up:

- pans up as if the camera is in the tube. Makes the audience feel as if they are in the shoes of Katniss.

Point of view:

- like a point of view shot as its very quick as if we are running past. Makes us feel like we are there -instil fear.

Low angle shot:

- makes the head game maker look superior and powerful.

editingEye-line match:

-the clip shows Katniss looking at something, then cuts to what she is looking at. Kind of like we are looking through her eyes when shown what she is looking at.

Rhythm and pace:

- Fast paced editing to create tension and the feeling of chaos. So much is going on.
