Do Issues Matter?
TODAY’S PROGRAM
COMMITTEE TIME
Carol Donovan is a Dallas native and a practicing attorney for more than 30 years. She was the 2014 Democratic Nominee for Texas State House District 107. She won her Dallas County Democratic Party Chair election and continues to serve Dallas County everyday.
Carol has never been one to sit on the sidelines. When a cause is important, she rolls up her sleeves, joins the team, and does what it takes. Her political involvement began when she was the first woman elected student body president at the University of Texas at Austin. After college she went on to serve in the office of Congressman Jake Pickle.
Her political involvement includes her current service as President of the Lake Highlands/White Rock Democrats. And Carol has supported literally dozens of campaigns at the local, state and national level, including multiple judges in Dallas County, our commissioners, and most recently, two progressives
who were elected to the Dallas and Mesquite City Councils - Mark Clayton and Jeff Casper.
Carol's civic involvement is extensive, from neighborhood and humanitarian groups like Peacemakers and Rotary and Lions Clubs, to groups promoting civic participation such as the League of Women Voters, to small business groups throughout Dallas County. As the point person for capital campaigns and fundraising efforts, she has raised nearly $1 million for Dallas area nonprofits.
She has served as Vice President of the Oak Cliff Lions Club and as pro bono legal counsel for the League of Women Voters, where she was a founder of the Susan B. Anthony Award Luncheon. She is founder and former executive director of the Castleberry Peace Institute, a nonprofit devoted to studying international relations and conflict management, now operated by the University of North Texas.
The Parade Must Go On . . .This intrepid band of RCPC members braved the rain to get the parade off to a good start.

THOUGHTS ON . . .
I have come to the conclusion that politics are too serious a matter to be left to the politicians.
~ Charles De GaulleThe more you read and observe about this Politics thing, you got to admit that each party is worse than the other. The one that's out always looks the best.
~ Will RogersPolitics is the art of preventing people from taking part in affairs which properly concern them.
~ Paul ValeryPolitics is not a bad profession. If you succeed there are many rewards, if you disgrace yourself you can always write a book.
~ Ronald Reagan
