DESCRIPTION

The Hub is a holistic service aimed at supporting clients to prepare them for community life. This brochure describes all of the services available to clients at Heatherwood Court Hospital, including nursing led recreational activities; psychological interventions; employment; training and educational development opportunity as well as Occupational Therapy sessions to help improve clients skills and confidence at living more independently.

THE HUB is a holistic service aimed atsupporting clients to prepare them forcommunity life. Services available includenursing led recreational activities,psychological interventions, employment,training and educational developmentopportunities as well as OccupationalTherapy sessions to help improve clientsskills and confidence at living moreindependently.

This resource provides the opportunityto complete assessments, including thestandardised Assessment of Motor andProcess Skills (AMPS).

The room has basic cooking, washing,drying and ironing facilities, and a bed topractice household skills.

Following assessment, clients’ needs willbe identified to determine future interventions, if necessary.

This kitchen has three built-in workstations, providing the opportunityfor small groups to participate in daily living skills and work towards a recognised qualification.

The groups will be identified according to skill level.

Multi-function Kitchen

The gym is a fully equipped, air-conditionedenvironment with a REPS registered FitnessInstructor/Extend Teacher.

Individual programmes are available, theseinclude a Daily Group and One 2 OneSessions.

Gym equipment - Concept 2 RowingMachine;Treadmill; Cross Trainer;Recumbent Cycle; Omni3 Adjustable PulleyMulti-Gym (which can be adapted to individual’s needs); Gym Balls; Hoops;Stretching Mats;Abs Cradle and FitnessDVDs.

This resource enables clients to engagemeaningfully in enterprise programmes,such as making various craft items whichmay be sold and/or donated to localcharities.

The Education Room offers clients theopportunity to participate and developliteracy, numeracy and ICT skills, whilstworking towards a recognised qualification. Each client is individuallyassessed to determine their educationlevels.

The Multi-Disciplinary Team will assessand agree on an individual client basis,access to computers and supervisedaccess (by Support Staff) to the internet.

The Spiritual Room offers physiotherapyand complementary therapy to clients onan individual basis.

The Complementary Therapist, followingconsultation, can offer treatments,including reflexology, aromatherapy and reiki.

This resource is for individuals to have a reflective, quiet contemplation space.

The room may also be used by visitingclergy… Or as a place to access information on spiritual and religiousneeds.

The DIY Skills Room provides clientswith the opportunity to learn practicalskills within a structured environment,whilst working towards a recognisedqualification.

The skills offered include - basic plastering, plumbing, decorating and basic electrics.
