Hospitalists are highly skilled physicians who specialize in the care of patients while they are in Doylestown Hospital. Trained to manage a wide range of illness and injury, these dedicated clinicians: Examine patients as they are admitted Order and evaluate tests and other lab work Coordinate treatment and medical services Prescribe medication Speak with family members to update them on the patient’s condition while in the Hospital Provide continuity of care by communicating with other Doylestown Health specialists as well as the patient’s personal healthcare provider Assist in the transition to follow-up care once the patient is discharged from the Hospital At Doylestown Hospital, all of the Hospitalists are board certified in Internal Medicine. Many of them speak two or more languages. Consulting Physicians Hospitalists may call on other specialists to consult on the care and treatment plan for a patient, such as cardiologists, radiologists, gastroenterologists, surgeons and other experts who are members of the Doylestown Hospital Medical Staff. While a patient’s own primary care physician (PCP) may visit them in the Hospital, the Hospitalist is responsible for coordinating care during your hospital stay. Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners Physician Assistants (PAs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs) are highly qualified medical professionals who are an essential part of the Hospitalist team. They are graduates of accredi ted educationa l programs and are nationally certified and state-licensed to practice medicine. Under the supervision of a doctor, PAs and NPs perform physical examinations, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret lab tests, and provide patient education and counseling.
