Sadly, he died on June 14 as a result of these illnesses. I know he appreciated your love and concern for him throughout his illness. Our entire family is grateful for the heartfelt words, cards, thoughts and prayers that we have received as we mourn his loss. They all mean more than we can express. His legacy will most definitely continue here at Houndslake Country Club. His personality was described by many as kind, energetic, thoughtful, honest, bright, competitive and purposeful. Without fail, you can count on the club being operated with these same values. As the club continues forward, decisions will be made with integrity and based on strong moral principles. Our goal is to be Aiken’s best choice for a family-focused resort-style club by delivering excellent value, high-quality facilities, and high-quality golf, dining and social experiences. In honor of dad‘s understanding of teamwork and genuine concern for others, the club will do everything possible to enhance the lives of the entire community (members, staff, homeowners and ownership) and make it the best in all of Aiken. This happens with a shared spirit of togetherness. My father lived a wonderful life and remains a great example for all of us at Houndslake Country Club. Newsletter for Houndslake Country Club

It is with deep emotion that I write this letter to you.

As many of you know, my father battled Parkinson’s

disease for the past couple of years. In addition to

this, he was also diagnosed with cancer. Sadly, he

died on June 14 as a result of these illnesses. I know

he appreciated your love and concern for him

throughout his illness. Our entire family is grateful

for the heartfelt words, cards, thoughts and prayers

that we have received as we mourn his loss. They all

mean more than we can express.

My father lived a rich life with deep love for family

and friends, always wanting to help others. He

enriched the lives of many, whether it was family,

friends, coworkers or students.

He always appreciated the quality of life that a

Country Club provided, particularly the game of golf.

Our main intention when we purchased the club in

2013 was to share this lifestyle with as many others

as possible. As we all know, Club life allows for many

things - fun, healthy activities, great food, building

and strengthening relationships, wonderful memo-

ries that will last forever and quality leisure time.

His legacy will most definitely continue here at

Houndslake Country Club. His personality was

described by many as kind, energetic, thoughtful,

honest, bright, competitive and purposeful. Without

fail, you can count on the club being operated with

these same values. As the club continues forward,

decisions will be made with integrity and based on

strong moral principles. The staff will work together

and deliver excellent service in a warm and friendly

manner. We will all consistently focus on getting

better every day, shift by shift.

Dad was highly competitive by nature. Houndslake

will represent this as we strive for excellence. We

plan to renew our commitment of bringing families

and friends together in an affordable way. Making

money is not our primary motivation. It is proven

time and time again that if you combine quality

facilities and products with a constant focus on

making members feel special, the financial numbers

will take care of themselves. Our goal is to be

Aiken’s best choice for a family-focused resort-style

club by delivering excellent value, high-quality

facilities, and high-quality golf, dining and social

experiences. In honor of dad‘s understanding of

teamwork and genuine concern for others, the club

will do everything possible to enhance the lives of

the entire community (members, staff, homeowners

and ownership) and make it the best in all of Aiken.

This happens with a shared spirit of togetherness.

My father lived a wonderful life and remains a great

example for all of us at Houndslake Country Club.

Some of the examples include - staying true to the

values that are important, treating others with

kindness and respect, continue to improve in every

area every day and create a positive environment so

that life is more enjoyable.

I encourage you to take a step back and reflect on

the things that are most important (faith, family and

friends) and spend your time accordingly. Your

outpouring of sympathy, condolences, and love has

given my family comfort and peace during this

difficult time.

Best regards,

Daniel Seawell

DEAR MEMBERS,

Page 2: The Horn VOL. 2 NO. 7 JULY 2021

June was another exciting month for us here at the

Houndslake as we continued to see more of our

members coming out. I am thrilled to let you know

that the word is spreading about all of the good

things we have going on here, as we have signed up

25 new families for HCC memberships so far in June.

Our “Taste of the Orient” Ladies Night was a huge

success, as we hosted more than 100 people. The

Father’s Day celebration went well, and the food was

outstanding.

Speaking of good food, be on the lookout for the

new Houndslake Summertime “CHILL” Menu, which

will be coming out soon. We will go live with this

menu on Thursday, July 1st. Make your reservations

now to be one of the first to try out this new and

improved menu offering many more choices. I will

continue to work closely with Chef Miles and Chef

Kerry in an attempt to freshen up the Ladies Night

menu choices. The Ladies Night Menus will be

emailed out weekly, so stay tuned. By popular

request, the Pub will be opening up at 4 p.m. start-

ing July 1st for drinks and lite apps on Wednesday

through Saturday. Dinner service will begin at 5:30

p.m. as normal.

Alvin and his crew have the golf course in excellent

condition and continue to make improvements to

the property. They continued to work on the clear-

ing between holes No. 1 and 2 on the Dogwood in

addition to the trimming of the shrubs around the

clubhouse. You will soon see new bunker rakes and

flags out on the course to help enhance the golf

experience. I ask that you work with us to help keep

these nice. The flags should not be written on,

regardless of whether the color of the flag is not

what you think it should be. The bunker rakes should

be kept in the bunkers so they do not get run over.

Golf carts should be kept away from the greens and

fringes to help keep our golf course looking great.

Thank you for your help with this and for keeping an

eye on the course for me.

I am excited that we will be having several exciting

events here at the Club in July. On the 4th of July,

we will be hosting our “FLAG” tournament.

A signup sheet has been posted in the Pro Shop, so

call for your tee time. Come out for a great day of

golf with your family and friends. If you are a single

or a couple, we can pair you up with a group.

On July 22nd, we will be hosting a wine event,

featuring wine and food pairings. More details

coming shortly for this event. On July 31st, we will

celebrate “Summertime at Houndslake” poolside.

This event will be an hosted by Houndslake Country

Club and the Houndslake Neighborhood Association

and will feature grilling by the pool and music.

Please save the date; more details to come.

In closing, I want to thank all of the volunteers we

have here at Houndslake. Thank you for taking pride

in the appearance of our Club and Neighborhood. I

know who you are and what you do for us, and I

sincerely appreciate the help. As we continue to

improve things here at Houndslake, I will be asking

for volunteers to help us paint the Ball Room. Now

that the pool is open, I will be switching gears and

will be spending some time and resources on

improving the Ball Room. I will send out details for

these “Painting Parties” and how you can sign up.

We will work hard but will have fun getting it done.

More details to come.

Last note, as you have seen many young and

fresh-faced employees around the Club, please be

kind and patient with them. You have no idea how

hard it has been to hire good people. These young

people you see working are in most cases family

members and friends pitching in to help. I ask that

you all be kind and understanding as they are learn-

ing their new roles.
