There are many different kinds of problems and worries that get in the way of children and young people growing with enjoyment, happiness and confidence; this is what we mean by emotional well- being. Problems vary in how serious they can be. For some children and young people the problems may pass quickly, for others their everyday lives are greatly affected and they may need extra help over and above what can ordinarily be provided by their families, relatives and friends. The project offers early intervention and also promotes a whole school approach for emotional wellbeing. A child or young person may need someone to talk to about emotional, behavioural, social difficulties or some advice. HOPE can provide this support. Session = 3 hours

Counsellor cost per hour =£50 £50 x3 =£150

£150 for half a day£300 per day

Training = £400 (4 days)Networking = £60 (2 hrs, termly)Supervision = £300 (5 x1hr per half term)

Training & development in first year = £760

Costs per session/day

Counsellor for half a day = £150 / £300 p day

TA for half a day = £45TA for one day = £90 p day

Per school there are 39 weeks, therefore 39 days of support

Costs over year

£300 x 39 days =£11,700 p school yr

£90 x 39 days (£3,510) + £760 training package= £4,270 in year one for whole training & delivery

That’s a saving of £7,430 You could double the listening ear time and still have change.

*** With training school staff the benefits are long lasting as the school have a resident lay-professional that is knowledgeable, helpful and available to support pupils and families as needed. HOPE builds capacity and provides “in-house expertise”***
