Who is T.S. Eliot ?

Thomas Stearns Eliot(September 26, 1888 – January 4, 1965) was a playwright, literary critic, and an important English-language poet of the 20th century.

"It wouldn't be what it is, and I imagine it wouldn't be so good ... if I'd been born in England, and it wouldn't be what it is if I'd stayed in America. It's a combination of things. But in its sources, in its emotional springs, it comes from America."

Page 3: The Hollow Men

We are the hollow menWe are the stuffed men

Page 4: The Hollow Men

Head piece filled with straw. Alas!

Leaning Together

Page 5: The Hollow Men

Our dried voices, when We whisper together

Are quiet and meaningless

____>

Page 6: The Hollow Men

As wind in dry grass-Or rats’ feet over broken glass-In our dry cellar

Page 7: The Hollow Men

Shape without form, Shade without colour,

Paralyzed force, gesture without motion;

Page 8: The Hollow Men

Those who have crossed

With direct eyes, to

death’s other kingdom

Page 9: The Hollow Men

Remember us, if at all, not as lost

Page 10: The Hollow Men

Violent souls, but only As the hollow men The stuffed men

Page 11: The Hollow Men

Eyes I dare not meet in dreams in death’s dream kingdomThese do not appear

Page 12: The Hollow Men

There,

The eyes are sunlight on a broken column

Page 13: The Hollow Men

There, is a tree And voices are In the wind’s

Swinging

Singing

Page 14: The Hollow Men

Than a fading star

More distant and more solemn

Page 15: The Hollow Men

Let me be no nearerIn death’s dream kingdom

Let me also wear such deliberate disguises

Page 16: The Hollow Men

Rat’s coat, crow skin, crossed staves

In a field behaving as the wind behaves

No nearer-

Page 17: The Hollow Men

Not that final meeting In the twilight

kingdom
