The Center for Jewish History is one of the great public Jewish historical and cultural institutions in the world. Opened to the public in October 2ooo as the campus to its five Partner organizations - American Jewish Historical Society, American Sephardi Federation, Leo Baeck Institute, Yeshiva University Mu-seum, and YIVO Institute for Jewish Research - the Center has achieved rec-ognition as a venue of unrivaled historical documentation and scholarship, im-aginative exhibitions of Judaic art and artifacts, and vital public dialogue. The collections of its Partners total more than 5oo,ooo volumes and 1oo million archival documents, and include thousands of pieces of artwork, textiles, and ritual objects, as well as music, films, and photographs. They comprise, taken as a whole, the largest repository of the modern Jewish experience outside of Israel.

STEvEN RoTh is Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Vornado Realty Trust. Mr. Roth is the co-founder and Managing General Part-ner of Interstate Properties and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Alex-ander’s, Inc. He is a trustee of the Whitney Museum of American Art, trustee of the Intrepid Museum Foundation, member of the Board of Directors of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America and board member of New York Uni-versity School of Medicine Foundation. From 1981 through 1987, he served as member of the Board of the Amos Tuck School, and has endowed a professor-ship there. He also is the principal donor to the Roth Center for Jewish Life at Dartmouth. He is a former Trustee of the Horace Mann School. Mr. Roth is a graduate of DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx. He received his AB de-gree from Dartmouth College in 1962 and an MBA degree with Highest Distinc-tion from Dartmouth’s Amos Tuck School of Business Administration in 1963. Mr. Roth completed a term as the 2oo2 - 2oo3 Chair of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT). Barron’s Magazine, in its March 27, 2oo6 and March 28, 2oo5 issue, named Mr. Roth one of the World’s Thirty Most Respected CEO’s for two consecutive years.
