The IT industry is exponentially growing in the Philippines. As an example, we have the Philippine IT-BPO industry which earned $16 billion in 2013 alone, and still continues to grow today thanks in part to the country’s young, skilled workforce.

The influx of money in the said industry along with the growing demand from other sectors has drawn the Filipino youth to pursue a career in IT. It’s a path that’s financially promising not just in the long term; it also offers attractive compensation packages for the fresh IT graduate including those specializing in IT security, IT software, and networks. Jobstreet provided proof to this in a report that they released on the 10 highest-paying sectors for new graduates back in March 2015. Unsurprisingly, four sectors came from the IT industry.

- manage all on site installation, repair, maintenance and test tasks

- diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions

- comprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations/briefings

- produce timely and detailed service reports

• Monitor and maintain the computer systems and networks of an organization

• Install and configure computer systems

• diagnose hardware and software faults

• Solve technical and applications problems, either over the phone or in person

• Depending on the size of the organization, a technical support officer's role may span one or more areas of expertise
