    Workshop on exploring

    writing and oneself

There is the YOU that only you know, there is the YOU that the world

knows, and there is the YOU that nobody knowsyet. Not even you! Like

the icebergs submerged part, you dont see it until you plunge into the

ocean - or crash into it!

You are invited to dive deepdeliberately. The springboard will be set up!

To plunge or not to plunge...? Youll need to stand at the edge of the

springboard, and the moment will decide. Of course, springboards are

everywhere, and in all forms. The one we are describing has a form too

Colour, ocean, clouds, silence, bazaars, chaos, people, aloneness, merging,

retreating, drumbeats, stars, eyes, words, flowers, dance, strangers,

leaves, hugs, songs, candles, hands, pictures, stillness...

Its a gathering of sorts. For want of a better word we are c alling it a

workshop. Youll meet some old friends, and end up making new ones,

some youve known and recognize, some you know deep inside but haventquite met Connection is a thread that runs through, connecting with

oneself, with the other, with the world seeing colours that hang in the

infra and ultra layers of the rainbow.

It involves sharing a few techniques, but it is far more than giving out

step-by-step procedures. It is about being able to put a hand on your

heart, understand shadows and splash colours. The exploration leads to

expression (writing!) and the writing leads to exploration. It is obviously

not linear or water tight. Not all light, not all dark a flicker, a whiz, abreeze, a whiff, a flow, a web, a stumble, a feel

    Come stand at the edge

MEET THE FACILITATOR!The workshop facilitator, Harvinder Kaur, writer, poet, and educator, has been on an interesting

journey. Some part of this can be seen, but most is like the iceberg! She began her journey as a

teacher, because it made her heart dance and there was a sense of being at home when she was with

    children and young people.

After doing her Masters in English Literature and Masters in Education from Delhi University, she

explored formal education for some years. She then left a regular job to work as a volunteer in non-

formal education based on Sri Aurobindos philosophy that marked a turning point in her journey!

Experienced with various national and international curricula, she has been writing and teaching for

two decades now. Her last full-time assignment, before joining on the board of India Council for

Integral Education (ICIE), Sri Aurobindo Society, was that of a Principal of an International

    Baccalaureate (IB) school in Mumbai.

Presently she is setting up a unique nature-inspired school in Bangalore inspired by the principles of

Integral Education (www.auroschoolsulsoor.org) besides creating training modules for teachers. The

approach is to have a parallel and deeper search of ones true self in the education of the child, so

that the child is not reduced to a programmed, mechanical device or factory product. She conducts

regular workshops on topics that explore the inner dimensions. An avid writer and photographer,

Harvinder has written and published poetry, articles and stories on education and spirituality.
