Pastor Clyde’s Column More than three centuries ago, a handful of pioneers crossed the ocean to Jamestown and Plymouth

in search of freedoms they were unable to find in their own countries - the freedoms we cherish today: freedom from want, freedom of speech, freedom from fear and freedom of religion. Today we must continue to protect those freedoms and practice them, especially our freedom to worship; and I

add the freedom to witness to the saving, forgiving, transforming gospel of Jesus Christ.

We are trying to stay connected to everyone using the church phone tree, mass emails,

the PVN website and our Facebook page. If you haven't received any communication from us until now, please contact our church office so

we will have your updated phone number, mailing address and email address.

Dear PVN Family and Friends,

God is good, and our church family is wonderful! After three months of worship services online with our church campus closed because of COVID-19, we resumed in person services on June 14th while continuing to livestream through our webpage and facebook live. I am so thankful to our staff, our musicians, sound and tech teams, deacons, greeters and everyone helping make our return to campus as smooth as possible. When we first started back in the fellowship hall, our plan was to move to the sanctuary after the first two or three weeks. But, a large number of our folks are remaining at home and not venturing back in person yet. We understand that lots of people are waiting a while, with the virus still fairly rampant in our community and our surrounding areas. As a result, we will continue to meet in the fellowship hall until the first Sunday in August. Other ministries such as on campus Bible studies, Sunday & Wednesday night services, weekly activities and groups are still presently on hold until further notice. We are presently waiting to see what the school systems do in our community before making any final decisions about resuming our on-campus ministries such as Trail Life, AHG, Small Groups and D-Groups.

Please feel free to call the church office if you have any questions. Everyone’s spiritual and physical health are very important to us. Please let one of our pastors know if we can help you and your family in any way.

During July, we will continue to worship in the Fellowship Hall with services at 8:45 am & 10:45

• We will continue to livestream services on Facebook Live & the church webpage at 10:45 each Sunday

• Social distancing of 6 feet is crucial. Please no handshaking or hugging. It’s okay to smile and wave. We will separate groupings of chairs for healthy distancing between family groups

• There will be no Nursery or Children’s Church and Sunday School will remain virtual

• Restrooms will be sanitized often, and we will spray & wipe down the Fellowship Hall between services

• Hand sanitizer stations will be at each entrance. Masks are available while supplies last, if you want one.

• There are offering boxes available for tithes and offerings instead of passing the plate.

• If you don’t feel well or if you have symptoms, please wait a significant period of time before you attend.

• For everyone concerned about coming back, please feel free to stay home and watch online

• We are asking everyone to help us prepare by signing up to attend either the 8:45 or 10:45 service.

Local Missions

A Big THANK YOU to the Sunday School Classes that help feed the children at the Open Door Home.

Pastor Eric heads up a team from PVN to pack lunches during the week and distribute food to children & families

in our area who need our help. Volunteers are needed each Thursday for 2-3 hours to lend a helping hand.

Deacon Nomination Process July 6-12

All PVN members can nominate up to 6 men as candidates to serve as deacon. A survey message will be sent to each email address that we have in our church database with instructions on how to

nominate. If you don’t receive an email by July 6th, please call the church office with the names you want to nominate this year by Sunday, July 12th.

Church Conference in July

Wednesday, July 15th

at 6:30 p.m.

Join us in the Fellowship Hall for our first church conference since March. This service will not be live-streamed, so all church members are invited to attend

as we discuss church business, including needed updates to our Constitution and By-Laws and helping our church planting pastors in Kenya.

Our virtual VBS week is right around the corner! This all-week event will begin LIVE at 10 a.m. every morning Mon - Fri. Each session will be around 10-15 minutes in length for an overall total of 1 hour a day. Videos can be watched live or anytime during the day or week. They will be posted to the church Facebook page and website. Please visit the PVN church website to register your

child by July 5th to ensure enough kits are ordered. The kits provide the interactive part of our VBS. They include lesson books, Imagination Station supplies, buddy cards and more! Any child registered after the deadline will receive a kit as long as our supplies last.

Pastor Eric will be distributing the VBS kits during the Sunday morning worship services on July 5th & 12th

From those nominated on Sunday, July 12th, the Deacon Nomination Committee will select a list of nominees to be voted on in the Deacon Election. The election will be held on Sunday, August 2nd. Six men will be elected to serve a three year term, beginning in September.

Qualifications to Serve as Deacon at Pleasant Valley North: 1) Committed to a sincere effort to live according to I Timothy 3; 2) At least 21 years old; 3) A Christian for at least 3 years; 4) A member of Pleasant Valley North for at least 1 year; and 5) Pledge to keep the Deacon Covenant, including the following:

• I will strive to live an exemplary Christian life according to the teachings of scripture. • I will hold in the highest esteem the reputation of my church and support its doctrines, mission efforts, my pastor and staff, and outreach for the lost. • I will accept responsibilities in the church in keeping with my talents. • I will attend with faithfulness the worship and prayer services, Sunday School, Deacons’ meetings, and Bible studies as I am able. • I will share in the outreach of my church, including GROW visitation and be a witness for Christ in our community. • I will strive to understand, more fully, the Scriptures. • I will contribute a minimum of a tithe to the support of my church.
