Formore information on the local festivals, see stories inside.Even well-meaning people can be part of acommunity drug problem if they don’t properly dispose of unused prescription drugs or over-the-counter medications. Careless disposal can mean drug compounds leach into a community’s watersupply or into the wrong hands where they may lead to abuse and addiction. With funding from thenational Drug-Free Communities program, the Barry County Substance Abuse Task Force and locallaw enforcement agencies have placed permanent collection drop boxes in three law enforcementagency locations. Accessing the box at the Barry County Sheriff’s Department this week are (fromleft), Liz Lenz of the Barry County Substance Abuse Task Force, Jason Sixberry of the CountySheriff’s Department, Jerry Sarver, chief of the Hastings City Police, and Jeff Pratt, detective with theHastings City Police.
