SURS Fiscol Yeor End Chonge From August 3,1 lo June 30

FY 87 will be o lGmonth fiscol yeor ending June 30, 1987,torthe Stote Universities Retirement System. This chonge will focili-tote inclusion of the Retirement System finonciol reports in theAnnuol Report of the Stote of lllinois. ln oddition, the RetirementSystem fiscol yeor will now coincide with most of the employerscovered by the Retirement System, Effective immediotely, ollemployees who ore poid on on hourly bosis or who receive ononnuol solory in instollments during 12 months of eoch oco-demic yeor in the finol overoge solory period, moy computetheir four-yeor overoge on the bosis of their eornings during the48 consecutive colendor months ending with the lost doy ofemployment. A lump sum poyment for up to 56 doys ofoccrued vocotion moy be included in this overoge. Acodemicemployees who ore poid on other thon o 12-month bosis, willcontinue to hove their overoge solory computed on the highfour consecutive ocodemic yeors. The ocodemic yeor is the 12-month period beginning on the first doy of the foll term, osdetermined by eoch employer or September 1, for those em-ployers who do not hove ocodemic progroms.

PersonnelThere hos been some confusion os to how medicol bills ore to

be submitted for dependent children when they ore covered byboth the fother's ond the mother's insuronce. Our plon is beingodministered on the bosis thot the fother's insuronce is primoryond bills should be submitted to his insuronce compony first. Acopy of the bills, plus o copy of whot the fother's insuroncecompony hos poid should then be submitted to Horper Collegefor considerotion.

lf the porents ore divorced, the primory insurer is the insuroncecompony of the porent with whom the dependent child lives;nexi would be the insuronce compony of the stepporent withwhom the dependent child lives if the child is covered underthe stepporent's plon ond finolly, the insuronce compony of theporent with wtrom the child does not live. This order of benefitdeterminotion is superseded by ony specific reference to heolthinsuronce in the divorce decree.

lf you hove ony questions regording where you should submityour insuronce bills, ot questions obout your beneflts in generol, pleose coll Feg Gormon in the Fersonnel Office, extension 2217.
