ALL ABOUT NNLC
NNLC Charter CLUB PURPOSE
The purpose of the New Neighbors League Club
(NNLC) is to bring together the new neighbors
of the area so they may meet and become friends
while adjusting to new surroundings. The Club is
a not-for-profit social organization with a variety
of interest groups and special activities, including
monthly luncheons and programs.
HISTORY
NNLC is the official social club of New
Neighbors League, Inc. (NNLI), which was
founded in Dayton, Ohio in 1939 by Theodore R.
Briggs. Out of the business of greeting new
residents grew a recognized need for a social
organization allowing newcomers to meet others
who were also new to the area. Theodore’s wife,
Bunny, lived in many cities throughout the
United States and knew the loneliness associated
with moving into unfamiliar areas. With the aid
of the Ohio Federated Women’s Club, the
Constitution and By-Laws for NNLC were
drafted. The first chapter was chartered in
Cincinnati, Ohio in 1943. As the greeting service
operations were established, new club chapters
were founded. Dayton was home for New
Neighbors League until 1986 when Corporate
and Club Headquarters were moved to Atlanta,
Georgia and Cheryl Beaudreault assumed the
position of National President. Currently, there
are fourteen operations nationwide. Each chapter
operates independently within established
guidelines and under the direction of a local
Board of Directors and a Club Director.
MEMBERSHIP
Membership in NNLC is open to any local
woman wanting to meet new people and
make new friends in the community. Prospective
members should attend a Welcome Coffee held
on the first Tuesday of the month. There are two
parts to the initial membership fee. First, a one-
time lifetime membership fee of $25.00 to join
NNLC with transfer privileges to any sister
chapter; this fee is forwarded to National Club
Headquarters. Second, there is a $25
membership fee that remains with the local
chapter to cover administrative expenses (this
amount is pro-rated according to the month
joined). On-going members will pay a $25
annual fee each year in January.
Affiliated Chapters:
Alabama- Birmingham
Georgia- Atlanta, Peachtree City
Kansas- Johnson County
Nebraska- Omaha
Missouri- Kansas City, St. Louis
Ohio- Canton, Columbus, Dayton, Toledo
Tennessee- Nashville
Texas- Corpus Christi
Washington, D.C.
Prospective New Member
Coffee
Moving into a new
community can be exciting,
overwhelming, and often
times, lonely. NNLC can
help make the transition
easier by helping women
find new friends and
activities. If you know of
someone new to the area,
invite her to join us at the
monthly coffee where she
can learn more about
everything NNLC has to
offer.
The next coffee is:
Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016 at
10:00 a.m. at
Manchester United
Methodist

Welcome to
February, the
shortest month of
the year, and this
year, a leap year.
Even with only
29 days, I know
we’ll manage to
hold all the usual
activities scheduled for our groups.
After our December luncheon,
attended by almost half of our
membership, I received several
differing comments. Some ladies
really appreciated the luncheon and
hoped we could do something like
that for the membership each year.
Some ladies questioned whether we
should spend the money it cost for
the luncheon on ourselves when we
could give more to charity. These
comments made me realize we need
to be reminded every now and then
of the purpose of New Neighbors.
NNLC was conceived as a social
organization for women who had
moved to a new area and needed to
find and make friends. Our charter is
strictly as a social organization. Any
charitable work we chose to do is a
bonus for those who take part but, it
is not the purpose or directive of our
group.
Hopefully we can hold a club
function in 2016, where the whole
membership is invited to attend.
Nothing is better than listening to the
chatter and laughter of our members
enjoying time together.
In Fun and Friendship,
Gay Hampton, Director
636-329-1004 (H) 636-579-3593 (C)
DIRECTOR’S & PRESIDENT’S MESSAGES
new members who’d joined in the
past year. As you know, our club
is such a source of welcome and
friendship to ladies. Whether
they’re new to the area, recently
retired or just looking to expand
their horizons, NNLC offers open
arms and opportunities for
companionship and fun. But they
have to find us first. How can we
help?
It seems most of our new
members come through word of
mouth from a friend. If we would
receive a commission for bringing
in new members, Noelle Speers
would be rich! She’s brought us
several new members. I invited a
recent new member to join when I
introduced myself after the
worship service when she and her
husband joined our church.
Ladies have been invited by
fellow members at the Y or gym.
We need to be diligent in asking
ladies we meet if they are new to
the area and/or looking for
friends. At Halina Conti’s for
Friday Night Cocktails last week,
I met two of her friends she’d
invited so that they might become
acquainted with our club. And I
think they are. What a great idea!
Let’s be on our toes, watching
and listening for opportunities to
spread the good news of our
club~
In Fun and Friendship,
Prudy Bertolino, President

Welcome to
February! I
like this
month…it gets
us closer to
spring! I think
of February as
a “love”
month…I guess
because of
Valentine’s Day plus our
anniversary is on the 28th. Yes, I
love Dave, but you know what
else I love? This club! Don’t
you? I wish more people knew
about it.
I’ve heard from a lot of ladies
who’ve commented favorably on
our December Holiday luncheon.
I think we had probably half of
our membership there and many

NEW NEIGHBOR OF THE MONTH/NNOM FORM
Nominate Someone Special
New Neighbor of the Month
The official state flower of South Carolina may be the Yellow Jessamine, but it sent
us our own Rose of Sharon........
Our December Red Rose recipient is Sharon Mosher.
Sharon and her husband, Kerry, moved to St. Louis from
South Carolina in June of 2014, and nine months later she
found new life in NNLC. While in SC she kept busy
running her own housekeeping business. Since joining New Neighbors I'm not
sure she has had time for keeping her own house. Sharon jumped right in and
volunteered to help Sue Watkins in the First VP position, planning our monthly
luncheons. She also keeps busy pushing pedals, no, not flowers, bicycle pedals with the Pedal Pushers, she
bowls, she plays mahjong, she seeks Treasures and she enjoys reliving her exploits with cocktails on Fri-
day night.
Sharon and Kerry found their way from Iowa via Florida and South Carolina. Along the
way they doubled their family size, increasing by two sons and have since received the
bonus of two grandchildren for good measure. WE are happy to honor Sharon Mosher for her efforts and
all that she does to help make NNLC fun for us all! Congratulations!!!

CARE & SHARE
CARING CORNER
Announcement
Becky Ulman is our new Care & Share Leader! Becky
recently decided to take this position for our Club! Lets
all support Becky in any way that we can!
Thank you Becky for stepping up and taking over this
important position for our Club!
We appreciate you!
No news is
good news!
Good News ……..
for those wanting to join a Couples Dining Out/DUMP
Group!!! There have been a lot of you that have shown interest
in participating in these popular groups, but they have been full
for a while. SOOO…. Plans are being made to form more groups and we would like to know if you are still
interested. Hopefully, some of you would be willing to chair a group and others will want to join a group.
Dump Groups serve a light appetizer and drinks in hostess's home, then the
host chooses the restaurant of their choice. However, do you work? Or do you
just want to simplify the process? If so, then you would just meet at a
restaurant. Be creative and call your group any name you choose. Maybe
you just meet at a restaurant and enjoy dessert after dinner at host’s home.
An informal meeting will be scheduled and some of our seasoned chairpersons
will attend and mentor new leaders. If you are interested in new groups or
mentoring a new group please contact the Wine and Dine board
member Leslie Witham at [email protected].
