What really counts VS. What catches the eye…

Page 2: The Halo Effect, Penny

The Halo Effect is the belief that people who are more attractive are treated better and more successful in society. The theory of it has been tested and proven true, but there still is not enough evidence to prove that it works with everyone.

… has been going on since the beginning of time. Books such as the bible even have reference of it.

Did you ever notice that in movies the “bad guy” tends to be distorted or deranged compared to the hero?

WW 2. Hitler believes that the Jews are a lesser people.

Racial Difference leading to prejudice. Almost all time, not yet ended.

Mentally retarded, different, or diseased people are locked up. From beginning of mental institutes to early to mid sixties.

Today: People are judged more on appearance., and believed to be better and happier the more attractive they are.

Get over yourself! People can be awesome no matter how they look!

It’s what's on the inside that counts!

Don’t worry about what people think about you, the more worried you are, the more they bother you about it.

The Halo Effect makes it easier for more attractive people to get jobs. On the other hand, less attractive people have a harder time getting a good job.

The Halo Effect also leads to more teen suicides or arrogance. *Results may vary depending on which end of the Halo Effect you’re on.*

The Halo Effect is the theory that more attractive people are treated better and more successful in society. It has not been proven completely true, but there is much evidence of it. I do not believe that this problem will be solved soon. With cosmetic surgery becoming safer and jobs harder to find, people will be judged more on the outside than ever…
