Gurkhas have served the British Crown loyally for 200 years. From the Gurkha War of 1814 – 1816, through all major conflicts including the two World Wars, to the modern day conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, they have fought with distinction and courage.

2015 marks the 200th Anniversary of Gurkha service in the British Army. It is an opportunity to celebrate the extraordinary qualities of the Gurkha soldier and the unique relationship that has existed for 200 years between Britain and Nepal.

The Gurkha Museum chronicles this 200 years of service. Its collections provide an insight into life as a Gurkha since 1815 and the unique relationship that exists between the Gurkha soldier, his British Officers and the wider British public.

The Gurkha Welfare Trust was established in 1969 to relieve poverty and distress among ex-Gurkha servicemen and their dependants. Today it works in both Nepal and the UK to provide financial, medical and welfare support to ex-Gurkhas in need. For more information, go to www.gwt.org.uk
