ALICE’S ADVENTURES IN OPERALAND

For our 10th birthday season, we bring to life The Grumpiest Boy in the World, a modern day story in music about a grumpy seven-year old. Fed up with being normal, Zachary Bridling travels to places where there are giants and hairy creatures, in an enchanting tale that teaches us that anyone can stand out, no matter how ordinary they believe they are.

Alice and White Rabbit are transported from an ordinary garden to the magical kingdom of Operaland.

Chapter 1 The Land of The Magic Flute White Rabbit is transformed into Prince Tamino and Alice is recruited by two magical and very bossy ladies. The ladies punish Papageno for telling lies and give Prince Tamino a Magic Flute to assist him on his quest.

Chapter 2 The Land of The Barber of SevilleWhite Rabbit is transformed into the Count who meets a very famous and very cunning Barber from Seville, Figaro. Figaro helps the Count to meet a beautiful girl the Count has set his heart on.

Chapter 3 The Land of Hansel and GretelAlice, tired after listening to the chatty Barber wishes to have a rest. White Rabbit takes her to meet Hansel where they sing an evening prayer together and fall asleep.

Chapter 4 The Land of La bohèmeAlice wakes after dreaming of travelling to Paris for Christmas. White Rabbit tells her it’s not a dream and together they watch Mimi and Rodolfo fall in love.

Chapter 5 The Land of The Italian Girl in AlgiersWhite Rabbit is one of fi ve chaotic characters caught up in an outrageous argument.

‘Quintet’ from The Italian Girl in Algiers

Chapter 6 The Land of LakméAlice becomes Mallika, Lakmé’s best friend. They sit in a beautiful temple garden and sing about jasmine and lotus fl owers.

‘Flower Duet’ from Lakmé

Chapter 7 The Land of CinderellaAlice meets Cinderella and returns her missing shoe. Cinderella invites all her friends to join her. They sing of the good fortune she now fi nds herself in.
