Vince Leodanski, Jr. was immersed into Christ on Sunday, July 31st. His parents are Vince and Dena and he has a younger brother named Levi. Vince is 13 years old and likes BMX racing, soccer and spending time with his friends.

Harlee Ann Mark was immersed into Christ on Sunday, August 14th. She is the daughter of Rebecca Mark and she has one brother and two sisters. Harlee loves all sports especially soccer and basketball.

Ruthie Grace Baker was born to Sam & Kristi on July 24th at 8:23 a.m. She weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces and was 20 inches long. Keith & Laurel Baker are her proud grandparents!

family during my surgery and recovery. God has richly blessed our family

with such a wonderful and loving church family. Because of you, a very

difficult time for our family will only be remembered as a blessing. I am

doing very well and praise God for what He has done for me. My faith has

been strengthened and my life will never be the same. Thank you for

everything!

WELCOME TO OUR CHURCH FAMILY

There is a life and death struggle going on for control of our hearts. Satan would deliberately plunge us into despair and death, but the Lord seeks to lift us up in hope and life. So the question for us in life is: Who do we allow to take control?

Luke 4 shares with us that Jesus faced that same struggle at the beginning of His ministry. Immediately after His baptism, Jesus went into the wilderness and there for forty days He was tempted by the devil. In fact Hebrews 4:15 says, “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin.”

You see, Jesus was God and yet He was a full human being who had the same needs, drives, desires and instincts that we have. The difference is that He never once yielded control to Satan. He resisted every temptation. His character was completely flawless. You would think that Jesus would be exempt from temptation. After all, He was the Son of God, and this passage says He was full of the Holy Spirit. He was led by the Spirit into the wilderness. He’d been fasting and praying for 40 days. He had just been baptized in the Jordan River. He could not have been any closer to the Father, yet Satan still came at Him. And yet at the end of this passage in verse (13) it says, “Satan left him but for a more opportune time.” Do you know what that tells me? Satan attacks everyone, even the most mature. You will never get so spiritually mature that you won’t be tempted to do wrong.

So church family, if you don’t think that you can overcome, take notice of Jesus and follow His lead. He did it and God’s word tells us we can as well. “Resist the devil and he will feel from you (Js 4:7).” “Live by the Spirit and you will not gratify the desires of your sinful nature (Gal 5:16).” “You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness (Rom 6:18).” “Everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith (I Jn 5:4).” And look at I Cor 10:13: “No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.”

Leadership for the Long Haul:

Many of the notable leaders we read about in Scriptures share a common characteristic. Think about Moses, Joshua, the judges, the

prophets, the kings, and the apostles. The work of some may have been cut short by conquest or martyrdom, but the fact remains they

led as long as they were able. Many led until they died.

They may have slackened their pace with advancing age, but as near as I can discern, non of them ever retired. They stayed at their

posts and carried on their work until circumstances prevented it or the Lord called them home.

Some might think we’re comparing apples to oranges, but it seems to me today’s Christian leaders should take a page from the playbook

of these biblical stalwarts. There certainly comes a time when younger, more energetic leaders must move to the front & take the reigns.

But even when they step down from their positions to make room for younger leaders, there is still plenty for the older leaders to do.

Sadly, some older leaders simply drop out of the picture, spending their remaining years reveling in the solitude & rest that come once

they day-to-day responsibilities of leadership have been passed on to others. But is that really what God wants?

It’s not a sin to slow down, to find a pace that works best in the golden years. Aging often brings with it certain physical limitations that

cannot be ignored. And it’s not wrong to play more golf, or read more, or travel more than you have the last several decades. But it’s

unwise to stop leading entirely.

If you’re still in the workforce, it’s likely you’re saving money for your retirement years. You may participate in a 401K plan at work. You

might be putting money into an Individual Retirement Accounts as you prepare for the future. If someone were to ask you, “Why are you

taking your hard-earned money, money you can use today, and tucking it away like that?” you would probably answer, “So I’ll have it to

spend during my retirement.” That would be wise.

But what if you stored up your money for decades only to reach your retirement years and refuse to spend any of it? That would be

unwise-and purposeless.

A similar principle might be applied to older leaders. You’ve spent years growing in wisdom, building a set of leadership skills, & gaining

life experience. Once these investments are at their peak, what will you do with them? Confine them to a golf course? Tow them behind

a travel trailer? Or will your take the fruit of your life’s work & place it where others can reach it?

You don’t have to lead at the same pace you did years ago. You don’t have to assume all the responsibilities you shouldered then. But

you can find young, promising leaders & invest yourself in their lives. You can take time between rounds of golf to pass what you’ve to

others who will use that knowledge and wisdom to build up the body of Christ.

Mueller Thought 3: YOU’RE STILL IMPORTANT

“Home is where the heart is.” That cliché is a great descriptor of the way a little child’s

life revolves around family and home. Then the teenage years arrive and something

begins to change. Because they are now growing up, teenagers begin the process of

disengaging from the kind of ties they’ve had with you as they begin to focus more and

more time on building relationships with their peers. Even though the shift is normal, it

can be quite painful to watch your children trade family time for friend time. These new

relationships with friends serves as a bridge between dependence of childhood and the

independence of adulthood. But NEVER, NEVER, NEVER forget this fact: You are still

vital! Research and observation have shown that we must remain engaged and available

to our children. Teenagers whose parents are absent from their lives as a result of

choice or circumstance are teenagers WHO HURT DEEPLY. You are important and

significant in their lives!

AMPED (6th - 8th grade) will relaunch Wednesday, Sept. 7th. ENCOUNTER (9th - 12th) grade will relaunch Sunday, Sept. 11th.
