« The great Paris new transportation network »


Launched in 2007 The GRAND PARIS project establishes 3 strategic goals for Metropolitan Paris:

1. To create a new public transport network complimentary to the existing networkwhich is available for all residents and workers of the Paris region with particular focusgiven to suburb-to-suburb communication.

2. To provide the Paris region with an effective framework for economic growth and development by ensuring effective connections between residential centers and centers of employment, thereby enabling the Paris region to compete economically with others economic international metropolises.

3. To transform the Paris Metro region into a shining example of urban environmental sustainability through the development of a sustainable public transport network and the preservation of her natural, agricultural, and forested areas and resources.

Conclusions

► Metropolis stations are urban projects ► The stations are complex projects with many interfaces ► The rail infrastructure and railway station have to be designed

together► Our methode: iterative approach , centered on the project and

the user► Necessity of public debate and consensus► Continuous optimization : intermodal , public space, shops and

services , and offices, hotels, housing , ... ► Modern metropolitan train stations are centers of their districts,

They are centers of public and urban life .
