Great Awakening
Hiya! Did you hear
about that cool guy
that’s been
speaking at our
church meetings?
Oh, ya, my mom
told me about him.
She said he’s a
preacher from the
colonies. What’s
his name?
I think his name is
Edwards, Jonathan
Edwards. He’s
passing on some
really radical ideas.
Cool. Like what?
I, like, heard he’s
telling people to
question whether
the church leaders
should tell them
what to do.
And he was telling
people that everyone is
equal and had the right
to speak their mind when
they disagreed with
things.
He’s also telling
people they can
become leaders in
the church.
Did you hear that
there was another
guy saying the
same things, I think
his name is George
Whitefield.
Someone told me he’s
so funny to watch he’s
emotional and makes all
kinds of arm gestures
but he’s a great speaker.
He’s got so many
people coming to
hear him they are
holding his
meetings outside in
the fields.
This stuff sounds
great. Maybe we
should go and hear
these guys.
Ya, and maybe we
should start
thinking about
doing some of this
stuff to the King of
England too.
He’s, like, from
England. And
when he talks
church isn’t, like,
boring anymore.
