St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Chittenango, New York The Good News Well, vacations are almost over. Where has the summer gone? I think it got washed away with all the rain. We have had the most beautiful wedding this past month. Bride was beautiful and the Groom was handsome. Most of you know that I am talking about Katherine and Michael Weisbrod. May they have many wonder- ful years together. A note as to what is going on with Bible Study, this month we have been very busy learning about the disciples. We have learned some very interesting facts about them. For instance, did you know that the only one to live to an old age was John, a son of Zebedee? Philip was called the Bean Counter? That Peter’s real name was Simon. That Peter was added by Jesus, which means rock. We learned many more things and we are only half way through. On that note, we will be taking a break in August and will continue on in September. Our church picnic is coming up July 30, 2017. We will have a joint one with All Saints Church Fulton. More on that next time. Can’t wait to meet them all. We are looking forward to the fall and some classes that will be available, like Safe Church Training with Father Leon. If you have a need for this please give me a call. If you have a need of anything, please feel free to call and we can talk about it. I am taking a couple of week off and going to South Carolina to see my brother. You can reach me on my cell phone any- time you need me at 315-876-0967. The Good News

Well, vacations are almost over. Where has the summer gone? I think it got washed away with all the rain. We have had the most beautiful wedding this past month. Bride was beautiful and the Groom was handsome. Most of you know that I am talking about Katherine and Michael Weisbrod. May they have many wonder-ful years together.

You can reach me on my cell phone any-time you need me at 315-876-0967. I am leaving on the 16th of August and will return before the first week in Sep-tember. May you all have a great rest of the summer and hopefully have sunshine and happy days. God Bless you all Judy Bell-Olmsted Warden

Leon Mozeliak, Tania Mousaw Absent: Ed Hoffman Called to Order: 6:35 PM by Judy Olmsted Opening Prayer: Judy Olmsted Review of Meeting Minutes from June, 2017. Change “Contract” between St. Pauls and Fr. Leon Mozeliak to “Letter of Agreement”. Motion: To Accept Minutes from June 2017 with clarification on Letter of Agreement made - M/S/C: Tania Mousaw/Robin Weisbrod Old Business

For construction to begin on the stairs, the Church is waiting for paper work to be submitted.

$100 will be given to the Chittenango Association of Churches to help cover the Food Pantry, Vaca-tion Bible School and Crop Walk.

The Church is still waiting for the Health Depart-ment to resubmit the kitchen’s health certificate.

Fr. Leon has been reinstated as a trainer for Safe Church Training. He proposed a September or Oc-tober training. People that have already been trained can renew online.

The church made $240.67 on the bottle drive. $19.72 was donated.

New Business

Church parking lot may be paved when new water line is run through the village.

Removing the trees in front of the church was dis-cussed as there is mold and rotting wood. It is possible to place them somewhere else, or donate them to the Lions Club. Ideas for different foliage was then discussed.

Judy Olmsted has taken over Judy Montgomery’s place for the Food Cupboard which needs one member from the church.

The St. Pauly’s box has become a lot of work for the two volunteers that are running it. A proposal was made to remove the shed or create a larger team to run it.

A new sign was proposed to help ward off un-wanted items. The church will lose money if it is removed. The discussion is to be tabled until September or October to make a final decision.

Fr. Leon proposed a new week day Eucharist, starting in September. A discussion was had about different timing options. The church may be able to play chimes at noon as a way to draw people in.

St. Pauly’s Box

Our St. Pauly’s Box group is looking for volunteers. The shed is situate outside the church for clothing dona-tions from the community. The community is asked to donate: used clothing, shoes, sneakers, belts, purses, linens, pillowcases, blankets, curtains, and stuffed ani-mals. All these items need to be organized by volunteers in order to be sent to St. Pauly Textile Inc. for distribu-tion. The church is looking for more volunteers who are able to help re-bag items and remove unwanted items.

According to the EPA, 85% of clothing in the U.S. is thrown away. This means that only about 15% of clothing that could potentially be re-used is collected using existing methods. According to their website, St. Pauly Textile Inc. purchases clothing from local community organi-zations, which the organization can use to support their mission or complete important communi-ty projects. The company then sells and distributes the clothing that they purchase all over the US and World to organizations such as foreign governments, relief organizations, the U.N., private companies and the U.S. government. Without these funds, St. Paul’s Church loses a great outreach program. We are also at risk to lose $1,000.00 worth of income every year which goes to building maintenance, events, and pas-toral care. Please give the volunteer opportunity some serious thought. Volunteering, even just one day a week, is a great way to earn community service. Please contact Tania Mousaw at [email protected] for more information.
