Wednesday, February 3: 11:45am Crazy Country Cowboy Birthday Lunch Let’s say “Yee haw!” and “Howdy partner!” to those joining us for our birthday lunch! Drive up for lunch and celebrate the seniors who are celebrating a birthday this month! A delicious, hearty, cowboy feast will be served for this February Birthday lunch, complete with ice cream & birthday cake, COVID-19 style and safe, with some special treats along the way! Wear your cowboy hat, dungarees, plaid shirt and enjoy your country music as you drive up. Continued happy, healthy, New Year wishes to all our Golden Age members and Happy Birthday to those celebrating February birthdays!

Tuesday, February 9: 10:00am via ZOOM (call in for code) AND in person Crafting with Carrie—Valentine Bears Today’s craft will be making small bears that will hold a small Valentine’s Day lollipop for you to give to someone or keep. All supplies will be provided in a kit for you to be able to make 4 Valentines to gift or keep. Kits will be available for you to pur-chase and pickup starting on the 4th of February. Wednesday, February 10: 10:00am via ZOOM (call in for code) and in person Color and Relaxation Time For this activity, should we still be under an orange zone mandate, I would encourage you to sign up for a supply kit and pick up on a drive thru basis prior to the program. On the day of the program, you can join via Zoom. Due to the nature of the sup-plies/program please register early.

Wednesday, February 10: 1:30pm via ZOOM and on the phone (call in for code) Social Group Respite Program Today, we will do a special COVID-style Social Group Respite Program with a special February theme, via Zoom, via phone, and via being socially-distanced! Or wear many hats and let’s see what you have got! There just might be a bit of a contest that will happen amongst the participants so let’s give it our all!

Friday, February 12: 1:00pm (meet in the Dining Area of the Golden Age Center) Winter Walk Join Jen today as she takes you around on a winter walk here at the Golden Age Center. Thursday, February 18: 10:00am via ZOOM (call in for code) AND in person Crafting with Carrie—Rosette Craft Today we will be making a rosette kissing ball on top of a glass candlestick. This is simple in nature and is a nice gift to give to someone or keep. All supplies will be provided in a kit for you to be able to make this craft. You will need a good glue. Kits will be available for you to purchase and pickup starting on the 4th of February. Kits will be $5 each and you can follow along on Zoom at the above time. Friday, February 19: 1:00pm via ZOOM (call in for code) AND in person Cheerful Pen Pal Project While we encourage you to do so, it is NOT a requirement to join in on Zoom for this program. You may independently help us to write letters to those in our community. So many of our seniors both close to our center and others in the community have been greatly affected by the social isolation caused by the pandemic. We have the materials for you to use for this pro-gram and while we maintain confidentiality, we can provide some simple information for you to be able to write to others. “Letter writing can be seen as a gift because someone has taken his/her time to write and think and express love” – Soraya Diase Coffelt.

Kits will be $5 each and you can follow along on Zoom at the above time. Limited numbers of participants may be able to come into the center with advance notice. Tuesday, February 23: 1:00pm via ZOOM (call in for code) AND in person Polar Bites Ice Cream Social Today we will celebrate winter and fun by having an ice cream social COVID style. In being creative, should we not be able to be together in person, we would like to have you do a drive-thru pickup of an ice cream sundae kit complete with toppings and whipped cream. We will listen to clips of tv show theme songs played and we will guess what show the song is from. These will be from the 1950s – 1980s era.

Friday, February 26 : 1:00pm via Zoom (call in for code) AND in person National Fairy Tale Day Join Carrie via Zoom as we discuss some of the more well-known fairy tales. We can look more in depth how radically differ-ent the tale of Hansel and Gretel is told today compared to how we learned it. Share your own tales from childhood as well.

Members - Think spring, and help Hospice Buffalo during their 35th Annual Hospice Spring Bouquet Sale! The Town of Grand Island is participating by taking pre-sale orders at the Golden Age Center. The beautiful mixed standard bouquets are availa-ble for $10. There is also a special Tribute bouquet available for $30. All bouquets will be delivered here to the Golden Age Center on Tuesday, March 9. The order deadline is Friday, February 19 and payment is also due by Friday, February 19. New Policies to Remember as we welcome you back to the Golden Age Center

PLEASE READ THIS: What to expect as the Golden Age Center reopens after the LIFTING OF THE MANDATE...

We know reopening under new guidelines and policies that is new and different is going to be a bit challenging and hard for all of

us to get adjusted to. We are doing our best to offer what we can during these challenging time, in the safest way we possibly can.

Your cooperation is most appreciated and will help us keep our facility safe, facility healthy for all to enjoy our programming, keep

us all together having fun together, and will help us keep our doors open.

• All patrons must come in through the Front Door (West door) or the Back door (East door) and register with the Office, show

that their mask is being worn, get their temperature checked, and sign the waiver, which patrons should confidently answer NO

to OR they should NOT enter: (1) I am not experiencing any symptoms of illness such as cough, shortness of breath or difficul-

ty breathing, fever, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, or new loss of taste or smell. (2) I

have not traveled to a highly impacted area within the last 14 days. A “highly impacted” area is a country or region for which

the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”) have issued a travel health notice. (3) I have not been in a state or

other jurisdiction in the United States, at any time in the last 14 days, from which individuals who travel to New York State are

currently required by New York State to self-quarantine upon arriving in New York State. (4) I have not been diagnosed with

Coronavirus/COVID-19, nor have I been exposed to someone with a confirmed or suspected case of the Coronavirus/COVID-

19 within the last 14 days. (5) I am following state and local requirements and CDC recommended guidelines as much as possi-

ble to limit exposure to the Coronavirus/COVID-19 AND then sign the Contact Tracing Form.

• The Golden Age Center doors will be locked to the public and at 3:45pm, the disinfecting process starts.

• Golden Age Center rooms, frequently-touched spots (door handles, windowsills, tables, chairs, etc.) will be disinfected through-

out the day.

• Patrons MUST register to participate in any kind of program or activity at the Golden Age Center. Program space is LIMITED

at the Golden Age Center and patrons must be respectful of space, social distancing and mandates.

• Hand sanitizer pumps and stations are located in the hallway outside the Pool Room/Lounge, outside the Office window, in

every room at the Golden Age Center, on each Arts & Crafts Room table, outside the Storage Room door by the Kitchen, and

inside each doorway of the Dining Area for people to sanitize their hands. Patrons are encouraged to sanitize AND wash their

hands frequently in the Restroom too.

• Restrooms are set up for social distancing as well, accommodating one person in the restroom at a time. Please be as respectful

as possible. We understand emergencies happen at times.

• Plexiglass has been installed over public interaction areas, such as the Office & Kitchen window.

• Social distancing signage and floor signage has been posted for reminders to help control public interaction.

• There will be NO communal snacks, coffee stations OR fountains. You may go to the Coffee Corner, NOW located at Kitchen

window, to ask for a cup of coffee or a homemade breakfast treat, or a breakfast treat, donated from our friends from Tops,

given to patrons by Golden Age staff members. Coffee Corner will be open from 8:15am—11:00am daily.

ing these times and this is a MANDATE. This is all to STAY OPEN SAFELY and HEALTHFULLY.

• Masks MUST be worn when playing card games OR when talking in close proximity to friends OR when going to the

restroom, OR moving throughout the building. Protect yourself AND your friends AND Golden Age staff. If you are a repeat

offender of this, your membership WILL BE REVOKED FOR SOME TIME if you do not abide by the POLICY and you’ll

be asked to leave. We WILL BE SHUT DOWN for this behavior.

How our reopening goes depends on how well everyone respects the policies and adheres to these policies. We If you’re not

comfortable, we ask that you do not come back to the Golden Age Center until we go to a more normal way of operating OR feel

free to join us in our Outdoor Recreational Opportunities we’ll be offering starting OR join us for our Virtual Zoom

Monthly Birthday Drawing:

Each month, we will have a

drawing for two lunch tickets at the Golden Age Center.

If your birthday falls during the current month, each day you participate in the lunch program, you may fill out a slip and put it in

the Birthday Drawing. The winner will be drawn the last day of the month. Lee Smith is the WINNER for the

month of DECEMBER!

Gym equipment & piano

On the Stage, the Golden Age Center has a stationary bike, a rowing machine, resistance

bands, small exercise balls & some light weights for our members to use, as well as

stationary pedals & stationary steppers to use. We also have a piano to play!

Members who use this equipment will SIGN IN at the Office, will sign a waiver & will be shown

how to properly use the equipment. The gym equipment and piano are available

for use (and will be disinfected after each use):

Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays: 8-10am; 1:30-4pm

Tuesdays: 8-9am; 3-4pm

Thursdays: 8-9am; 12:30-4pm

Our Coffee for the Month program has been graciously donated by Total Body Workout, for the month of February, and we are grateful for

their thoughtful generosity and support! This program will continue due to the generosity of our Golden Age Center friends!

AARP Tax Preparation—February—April 2021 The Golden Age Center is happy to provide the AARP Tax Aide

Service again this year, with COVID restrictions in place! Please call (716) 773-9682 and leave your name and phone

number with Golden Age staff if you’d like to have your taxes prepared. A volunteer representative will return your call to set up an appointment once all details are finalized and will make sure your tax return is something they can handle as

well as the proper documentation required is present.
