We want to be reminded that all of us—individually and collectively—are capable of greatness. The electric car isn’t just a prudent choice; it’s an outstanding choice. It represents humanity at its best. It’s everything we most want to believe about ourselves—all wrapped up in one beautiful package. The ultimate means of self-expression and personal freedom.

The electric car is a high-torque testimonial to our deep-seated desire to thrive, rather than merely survive. It is positive proof that we are still capable of excellence. That all of us can still own something—embrace something—that is truly great.

It’s not just the next giant leap for the auto industry; it’s one of those next giant leaps for humankind.

No other organization is better positioned to motivate the public.

EDTA will providethe leadership.

In 2010, the Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA) and its members decided to invest the resources and infrastructure to create an unbiased and up-to-date source of information about electric cars.

Since that time, GoElectricDrive has become the premier online resource for media and consumers who are seeking credible information on EV technology.

In 2012, EDTA determined that GoElectricDrive should be the platform for driving demand, as long as it existed as its own 501(c)(3) charity and met the following criteria:

Represent the most influential and invested people and organizations across the EV community;

Be utterly transparent in structure, funding and presentation of information;

Be a place where a unified commitment to the electric car could overcome any differences of opinion or agenda;

Become the most trusted source through a national education campaign to help the Amercian public understand the true potential of the electric car.

EDTA is now actively building the infrastructure and recruiting the members to make the next evolution of GoElectricDrive a reality.

The facts and data amassed on the electric car over the past 40 years are hard won and irrefutable. But, in a way, the abundant information about how smart and prudent the electric car can be has gotten in the way of why people should care.

Our education campaign will offer an appropriate measure of inspiration to set a truthful context for all the information.

A context that helps people —from car fanatics to soccer moms, from fleet managers to 20-somethings, from environmentalists to those who have the “need for speed” —see that the electric car represents all of us at our best.
