A look at Johns in the new testament: No, not that kind of John, John Who? In Hebrew the name is Yehohanan and is usually translated as “God has been gracious.” How many Johns are in the NT? 3? 5? 7? Staying Connected Joys:

Megan made a list to of joys and where she has seen God this week to share with the church: Thankful for time with family, good health, God’s abundance of love, bible study, freedom to worship, quiet time and time spent with the Lord, birds in the mornings, God meeting our needs. Psalm 40 provided an answer to a question and God answering prayer.

Rev. Morrison was looking forward to spending some time with his friend Rich this coming week.

Frank was glad to have received his second shot and knows that others fortunate enough to have received theirs are grateful as well. Soon maybe there will not be a need to continue to wear masks.

Sally Lepp seeing the beauty of the spring

Concerns:

Prayers for Richard Sterling who was hospitalized yesterday. Rev. Morrison’s friend Rich got accepted into the WVU program and was

diagnosed with early Alzheimers. He realizes there will come a time when Rich will know longer know him. God loved him before he become a Christian and he will still love Rich even if he doesn’t remember him.

Remember Raymond and Dee. Remember Shirley Goddard’s sister in Texas. Please remember a neighbor named Shannon. Remember the family of the young police officer that committed suicide.

Announcements: We will continue with Facebook live as well as in person worship. The Newsletter will include a video of the sermon . We anticipate a return to Sunday school class at church in the fall, probably early in September, and we are planning a celebration Sunday for back to church at that time. We have also added a paypal option for making contributions, giving, donations, tithes…simply use the church email address via paypal. (as a friend of family, not corporation. Instructions are as follows: Step 1: Click the "Send" icon.

Step 2: Type in an email address for whomever is receiving the money(this would be

[email protected])

Step 3: Type the amount that you wish to send.

Step 4: (Optional) Add a note or memo to go along with that money that you are sending.

Step 5: Select the Family or Friend option. The church is not considered a Corporation, so the

account is set up as a personal account. Setting it up this way allows for people to not be

assessed a fee when sending or receiving.

Step 6: Clink "Send payment now". After this, you will receive a confirmation.

Note: After a person sends money and initially selects the church as a Family or Friend, it will

no longer ask that. It will automatically classify them as a Family or Friend and no fee will be

assessed.

Ladies Bible Study will resume on Wednesdays starting at 6:30. All women are invited to attend. Meetings: Prayer group will meet on Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. April 15 – Finance Committee Meeting at 7:00 p.m.; Trustees 7:30 p.m.

assembled in Jerusalem, with Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, and Alexander, and all who were of the high-priestly family” (Acts 4:5-6). Johannine literature: The Five canonical books of the New Testament ascribed to John, The gospel of John, Revelation, and The letters of John 1,2,3. Only in Revelation does the text itself name its author as John; the other Johannine works are ascribed to John only through their attached titles and other external references from 50 to 150 years later. So who wrote what? Early sources from as early as the 2nd century widely attest to a certain John, a disciple of Jesus, who lived to old age in Ephesus, and to whom all the Johannine works are ascribed. But some say that John Mark or John the beloved disciple wrote some or all of these. The gospel of John : Probably written by the beloved disciple John the apostle, the evangelist, the son of Zebedee. The book of Revelation: Some say it was John the elder, a pseudonym. Possibly some other Jewish Christian prophet, Probably written by the beloved disciple John the apostle, the evangelist, the son of Zebedee The three letters of John: traditionally held to have been composed by John the Evangelist, at Ephesus, when the writer was in advanced age. The epistle's content, language and conceptual style are very similar to the Gospel of John, 2 John, and 3 John; The first letter of John was anonymous. No internal information point to its author. Most probably 2nd and third John was by John who wrote everything else. The first letter may remain a mystery as to who wrote it. Chris

Living the resurrection sermon series:

I heard a song a few weeks back on one of my trips to Mineral Wells to the cabin and to see Dad."Show Me How To Live" by audioslave includes a line repeated in the chorus: “…from my creator, You gave me life, now show me how to live.” Isn’t that why we read our bible, isn’t that what we want to know? Isn’t that what we want God to do? After the resurrection that first easter Sunday, nothing remained the same. That truth can become real for each of us as we meet the risen lord and savior and seek to live in the resurrection life offered to us. April 18 Living the resurrection: touch and see, how can we touch and see God today? April 25 Living the resurrection: listen to my voice, how to know the voice of God May 2 Living the resurrection: Abide in me. How to abide in Christ May 9 Living the resurrection: no greater love. How to Show Gods love May 16 Living the resurrection: we are yours. How do we belong to God?

Donations of items will be accepted at the Farmstead on Thursday, April 29 and Friday, April 30. Accepting antiques, household wares, children's items, books, and furniture, etc. No clothing.

Glen Dale Good News for Children and Youth

Rooted: Colossians 2:7 CEB - Plant your roots in Christ and let him be the foundation for your life. Be strong in your faith, just as you were taught. And be grateful.

Future Meeting Dates: - kids and youth are invited to join an in person session with Calvary-Simpson.

Youth Group Update: We made $370 from the shirt fundraiser and would like to thank everyone once again for your support. We finished up our Easter lesson series at our meeting on March 21st. We also had a very lively game of “Name that Tune”. The “Dinosaurs” were off to a good start in the hymn round. All teams did well in the Christmas carol round but the “Dolphins” came back strong to take the lead in the final round of Nickelodeon/Disney songs. I don’t want to leave out mentioning the “Nutter Butters” because they put forth a great effort too. The participants were jumping out of their seats with excitement so I am sure this will be a game we play again. We will be starting the “Diary of a Godly Kid” series at our next meeting on April 18th. Meetings will continue on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month at Calvary at 6PM thru June 6th. We are planning to take a break from meetings over the summer but have plans to get together in July & August at least once for a special activity. We are up to 17 active youth members and would love to have more! If you are in 3rd – 8th grade and would like to grow in your knowledge about God’s love for us while having a good time with others your age, come join us on April 18th at 6PM at Calvary.

Sunday school classes: The children’s Sunday school classes continue: For more information contact Stacie Lemmon (304-280-3812) or Cathy Gellner (304-281-1181) *Cathy is continuing the zoom Sunday school class until the end of May.
