For Immediate Release: The Glasgow School of Art Shop launch the ‘GSA Collection’ 2012 Covetable, exclusive products designed by students, staff and alumni of The Glasgow School of Art are now available in the School’s beautiful retail space. Nestled inside the iconic Mackintosh building, the GSA’s luxurious independent shop is a welcome oasis of calm, a mere side step from the bustling high street, where every purchase supports the School’s next generation of budding designers, artists and architects. Featuring over 40 makers, from established graduate companies to student crafters, the GSA Collection takes pride of place, representing the wealth of creative talent emerging from the world famous School. The GSA Shop, well known amongst design savvy Glaswegians for fine jewellery and textiles, has grown its collection to include stocking stuffers, silk scarves, printed bags, espresso cups, papercraft, mittens and more… Alice Dansey-Wright’s ‘Glasgow City Scarf’, available in 5 rich jewel tones (below, £64), is an adorable twist on the souvenir scarves of the 1950’s. Featuring hand drawn images of iconic Glasgow architecture, the scarves have been designed, printed and finished all within a stone’s throw of the School. An exquisite, painterly range of robust travel accessories from established graduate print designers Bluebellgray (above, £25 - £48), have just arrived and are exclusive to the GSA Shop in Glasgow. Jewellery and silversmithing student Hamish Dobbie has filled the brief for the perfect stocking filler, with his desirable, yet affordable, edgy stackable acrylic rings at £5 a pop, (above) and graduate Fiona Woodcock’s hand printed gocco Christmas cards, (above, £3.50) are poised to brighten up even the dullest of Decembers. For students and new graduates, the shop provides an excellent opportunity to build their professional practice; “We put out a call for products and are approached by dozens of new graduates each year. With our steady flow of international visitors, we are in a privileged position to select and develop the most promising new ranges, helping upcoming Glasgow designers find a market”, Annie Lavety, Retail Manager. Products range from £2 to £200, and now is the time to snap up a unique gift as the Shop is offering a 15% discount when you spend £45 or more, until 21st December 2012. Ends.
