Greetings from GCCI! During the latest monetary policy review, RBI hiked key rates resulting
more cost to obtain loans. The credit profile of many PSU banks is to remain weak despite recapitalisation initiative by the Central Government. Our rupee is in free fall against US dollar due to multiple headwinds like weak global cues and concerns related to inflation and fiscal slippage.
As per commerce ministry data, US has emerged as the top export
destination for India with USD 47.9 billion worth of shipments last fiscal. There is enough scope for us to push exports of apparels and made-ups, leather products, pharma & engineering to achieve quantum jump in exports.
US – China trade war hits global market and India must gear up for trade
war and India must strengthen its own macro-economic health by removing the slack in every sector. India retaliated by increasing duties on farm products, steel & iron imported from US in response to tariff hike imposed by US on India’s steel & aluminium. It is a matter of great concern for International Trade Community as the present scenario may derail world growth.
The government has set September 30, 2018 as deadline for RFID (Radio
Frequency Identification) operation at all major ports and directed TAMP to co-ordinate to put in place necessary infrastructure ahead of time line.
Our Chamber delegation paid a goodwill visit to new comer ARM Shri
Aadish Pathania and appraised him about various pending issues of Railway. Similarly our representative has also participated in recent hearing of TAMP and contributed positively.
Now we all hope for the rains to start and pray for a good and abundant
monsoon season.

SHORT NEWS
E-way bill: Transporters can now use common enrolment number across multiple States
To help the logistics industry comply with e-way bill requirements with ease, the Finance Ministry has announced new rules for transporters running businesses in multiple States. The Central Goods and Services Tax (Sixth Amendment) Rules, 2018, which came into effect on June 19, prescribes: “A transporter who is registered in more than one State or Union Territory having the same Permanent Account Number, may apply for a unique common enrolment number by submitting the details in FORM GST ENR-02 using any one of his Goods and Services Tax Identification Numbers, and upon validation of the details furnished, a unique common enrolment number shall be generated and communicated to the said transporter.” READ MORE
New Bill may stamp out ports' TAMP woes The union government is giving another shot to replace the Major Port Trusts Act, 1963 with the Major Port Authority Bill and eventually pave way for the abolition of Tariff Authority for Major Ports (TAMP). However, the proposed measure has nothing in store for the existing operators. The operators within the ports and shipping industry are hailing the move as it would do away with the 'regulatory' requirement to get TAMP's nod for any increase, decrease or provide discounts for the tariffs.

JSPL to Adani Logistics, private sector bigwigs join Railways wagon scheme
The opening up of private investment in general-purpose wagons (GPWS) by the railways has invoked interest from at least eight big companies. These are from cement, steel, iron ore and aluminium sectors. The scheme of allowing firms to own wagons, of the fleet of Indian Railways, is likely to attract more investors. State-run Coal India (CIL), too, is set to join, with likely orders of Rs 20 billion, for around 500 rakes. READ MORE
