Community-Based Services Outlook5-10 Year Outlook

5 to 10 Year Outlook: Over the next 5 to 10 years the U.S. will continue to experience and increase in need for community based programs. As baby boomers continue to age their will community based services to remain active, educated, mobile and lively.

Community-Based Services Outlook5-10 Year Outlook

Community-based programs serving adult learners will continue to gain traction as the adult learner population continues to grow.

Distance education programs could begin to lean on community based programs for support for lower income students

Distance education “has the strong potential to bring learning to far more people in the world, at lower costs for a student hour of learning than at present (Bork, 2001).”

Educational Outlook5-10 Year Outlook

5-10 Year Outlook: Education will continue to make advancements in curriculum and delivery methods for the adult learner.

Although the most popular programs will remain in high demand (nursing, technology, management), there we will see a surge in adult education for personal development and continued education.

Program development will continue in the areas focused on career development, literacy, orientation and goal setting (Petty, 2014).

Educational Outlook5-10 Year Outlook

“Many adults are having to set their sights on obtaining sufficient skills to be more marketable for employment (Petty, 2014).”

As the job market continues to develop and change the need for adequate and accessible education for adults will increase.

Making adult education accessible and affordable will continue to be a focus in order to keep up with the global trends for employment and marketability.

Funding5-10 Year Outlook

Funding has seen its ups and downs for community-based and educational programs. This trend will continue over the next 5 to 10 years, especially with an increased financial strain on government programs from baby boomers.

“Governments should be investing 6% of their education budgets on adult education and half of that should go to basic literacy (Archer, 2007).”

Funding5-10 Year Outlook

The U.S. will have to turn to alternative funding options for community-based programs and education because of the current economic strains.

However, by increasing the education level and involvement of adults we can circulate more funds and try to boost or at least sustain the economy.

Organizations like the Global Campaign for Education (GCE) will continue to set the bar for education and suggest funding breakdowns (Archer,2007).
