More than a century of hope and possibilitiesSince 1906, Neighborhood House has been a stepping stone for immigrants, refugees and low-income people on the path to self-sufficiency, financial independence and becoming contributing members of vibrant communities. From our earliest beginnings serving Jewish immigrants to our work today with people from countless countries and cultures, Neighborhood House has helped generations of families achieve the promise of America–an education for their children, self-sufficiency for their families and a meaningful place in a caring community.

When the question arose of how High Point residents would be able to thrive in their new community, the answer came quickly: Neighborhood House.

SHA & Neighborhood House: strong partners for more than 50 yearsSince working together on Yesler Terrace–the nation’s first integrated public housing community–Neighborhood House and Seattle Housing Authority have collaborated on many successful projects, including the NewHolly and Rainier Vista redevelopments. Both of these now serve as national models for mixed-income communities and High Point will add to this tradition of success.

Building on experience: Rainier Vista CenterAt Rainier Vista, Head Start students learn and play. A state-of-the-art technology center offers computer skills, vocational training, English as a Second Language classes, citizenship classes and financial literacy education. Employment and family counselors help guide residents and others in the community to self-sufficiency.

The warm and welcoming Rainier Vista Center complex has become a lively hub of the community, and we bring this tradition of caring and compassion to the Heart of High Point Campaign–a broad-based, grassroots effort to meet the needs of the new High Point community.
