In 1997, the Chemistry Faculty of Moscow State University and the Frumkin Institute of Electrochemis- try of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) have instituted an award for young scientists named after the outstanding Russian scientist academician Aleksandr Naumovich Frumkin. The Frumkin Award was established with the aim of recognizing, promoting, and financially stimulating the authors of the best works in the physical chemistry branch of theoretical and applied electrochemistry. The award is to be conferred once a year, in Septem- ber, to young scientists (no older than 35) for their works published in journals both in Russia and abroad. Works of individual authors or a series of works of several authors (no more than three) on a single subject can be nominated for the award. Other conditions being equal, preference will be given to the works that were published (at least once) in Elektrokhimiya or in lead- ing international journals. The Frumkin Award Committee comprises highly qualified scientists and electrochemists of the Frumkin Institute of Electrochemistry and the Electrochemistry Department of Moscow State University. Chairperson of the Committee is V.V. Lunin, Dean of the Chemistry Faculty of Moscow State University, academician of the RAS. The candidates for the award will be nominated by doctors of sciences, scientific and educational institutes and associations, and also by the authors themselves. The study that wins the award will be presented at the Frumkin Readings at the Chemistry Faculty of Moscow State University in October, after which the author (group of authors) will be awarded a diploma and monetary prize (in 2001, the prize amounts to 20 times the minimum wage). The scientists who receive the award will publish an abstract of the presentation made at the Frumkin Read- ings (no more than 2 pages) in Elektrokhimiya, with the note “The 2001 Frumkin Award Paper.” The works should be submitted to the committee no later than September 5, 2001, or posted before August 15, 2001. The following items (2 copies each) will be presented: (1) list of papers and their reprints (or Xerox copies); (2) abstract of 1–2 pages; and (3) information about the author(s), such as place of work and post occupied, year of birth, address, work and home tele- phone numbers, and e-mail address. In 1997, the Chemistry Faculty of Moscow StateUniversity and the Frumkin Institute of Electrochemis-try of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) haveinstituted an award for young scientists named after theoutstanding Russian scientist academician AleksandrNaumovich Frumkin.
