1. Britain increased land holdings in North America

2. French power in North America ended.

2. What did the British government learn as a result of Pontiac’s Rebellion?

Defending the lands W. of the Appalachian Mts. would cost a lot of money (forts/supplies, soldiers, etc.)

3. What was the purpose of the Proclamation of 1763?

to keep the colonists safe on the east side of the Appalachian Mts.—Britain could not afford to keep soldiers in the Backcountry (W. of App. Mts.)
