Get in touch with the Internet ofThings
On the 29th of March, with around 120 guests
from industry, politics and research, the transfer
center "Internet of Things Lab" at Fraunhofer
FOKUS was inaugurated. In an extensive lab
tour, the varied potential IoT applications und
their technical basis were demonstrated.

NB-IoT Open5GCore Prototypewill be demonstrated for the firsttime at the IoT Week 2017
Recognizing the importance of massive IoT,
dense IoT deployments and customized IoT
edge networks, the Open5GCore team is
currently developing the NB-IoT features in the
core network, enabling efficient support for
message based communication and for non-IP
data paths. The first demonstration of the new
features will be at the IoT Week2017 (in Geneva
6-9.06.2017) (). With these features the
Open5GCore will provide the needed support for
deployment and evaluation of customized
testbeds for the IoT market.

MWC 2017: 5G Capital Berlin
In the German capital 5G is not a distant hype.
Already technologies for an intelligent network
infrastructure are being developed and test
environments are being installed, which can be
used for testing new applications. At the Mobile
World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona (Feb 27 –
Mar 2, 2017) the Fraunhofer Institute FOKUS
presented the test environment 5G Berlin at the
booth of Berlin Partner.

Nov 06 - 08, 2017 Fraunhofer FOKUS, Berlin, Germany
Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) and
Software Defined Networks (SDN) enable rapid
network and service innovation for all
participants in the future telecommunication and
5G ecosystems.
The 3rd IEEE Conference on NFV-SDN (IEEE
NFV-SDN 2017) is this year’s premier event for
the areas of NFV and SDN. After two highly
successful repetitions of the event in Bay Area
with more than 140 participants, it comes for
time first this year to Europe and is co-located
with the #Berlin5GWeek.

Nov 09 - 10, 2017 Fraunhofer FOKUS, Berlin, Germany
This year we will look on the benefits and risks of
this emerging disruptively agile network and
service environment driven by the integration of
existing and new access network technologies,
new software paradigms, like edge computing,
network virtualization, network slicing, and
programmable 5G Core networks. Together with
leading operators, manufacturers, integrators as
well as various solution providers we want to
assess ongoing technology and business proofs
of concept and related 5G testbeds around the
globe.
