The foundation of a strong community is a healthy business community. We are fortunate in Union County to have a diverse, vibrant business community consisting of small and large retail/service businesses, a varied agri-business community with deep historical significance, and a manufacturing concentra-tion other communities envy. A prosperous business community provides jobs for our residents, a tax base to build and maintain our infrastructure, an enhanced quality of life through contributions and volunteer hours to our nonprofits, and support of our educational institutions.

The foundation of a healthy business community is a dynamic Chamber of Commerce. YOUR Chamber is the cornerstone of the business community providing opportunities to connect with others, providing professional and personal development opportunities, collaborating with community partners to meet the challenges businesses face, advocating on behalf of our members, and acting as a primary resource for our members. The work of the Chamber is crucial to the success of our members, and ultimately to the success of our community.

Thanks to YOU – our wonderful members, volunteers, and community partners, this was a successful year for YOUR Chamber. In 2017, your Chamber implemented new programs, enhanced existing programs, and created even more opportunities for our members to “make connections” throughout the year. In addition, we began a strategic planning process to lead your Chamber successfully into the future. Membership in your Chamber grew to a historic level this year, attendance at our events continued to grow, members utilized the Chamber as a resource for their business, and grew their businesses leveraging the connections made through the Chamber.

We continue to solidify the Chamber’s role as “The Business Connection in Union County”. We provide solutions to the common challenges all businesses face and differentiate our services based on the business segments we serve. We achieve this by doing what we do best—making connections.

This was a wonderful year for YOUR Chamber, our members and our community. Yet as I look to the future, I am confident the best is yet to come.

Wishing you the very best,

Pat KahlePresidentUnion County Chamber of Commerce

In conversations regarding business growth and ROI, I have been asked by several business owners if it is a wise investment to join the Union County Chamber of Commerce. My response is always a resounding “YES!” However, I always add, once you become an active member, you will gain insights from business owners in a variety of industries, have access to mentors in your field of work and, experience an amazing and extraordinary camaraderie with fellow members. These benefits of being an active Union County Chamber member are priceless!

I bravely agreed to make up a foursome in your annual COC Golf Tournament held in April at Emerald Lake Golf Club. I’m not a great golfer but wanted to support the COC and of course, Emerald Lake. I played with a local attorney who turned out to have more patience than anyone I had ever played with. My skill level did not bother him at all and I got to know him a lot better.

As a result of my participation, he invited me to be his guest at Kiwanis. I joined 2 weeks later. From being in Kiwanis, I have been given many business opportunities that have come to fruition. To me, this is what Cham-ber membership is all about...networking and getting involved in community affairs.

Thank you for all you and your staff do to help Union County business - especially mine!

We are a big advocate and supporter of sponsors getting tables for the Chamber’s events. One of the best parts about being a sponsor was that we actually got to see business results from the breakfast. We were approached by many manufacturing companies at our display table, and were able to find a few loyal business partnerships. The best part of these new partnerships was that it connected two loyal members of the Chamber from different industries for a common cause.
