Indifference is humanity’s greatest enemy, for it signifies the destruction of hope, and the end to caring for dignity. The Flash not only bears one witness to society’s critical nature upon those who wish to stand up against injustice, but also to the failure of a man to actively continue to fight once threatened by an opposing force. Climaxing the story is the man’s epiphany where he suddenly realizes that the world he is living in is unjust and cruel. Upon unveiling his newfound revelation to the public, he is met with immediate scrutiny, angry glares, and yells. Here, the man fails to overcome hatred and threats from opposition, and was immediately reabsorbed back into the collective. Life is meaningless unless one fights for what he is passionate about, for conformity lowers one to the level of indifference, to inhumane selfishness.
