Facts YOU should know• Average American carries between 12-16 pounds of fecal matter impacted in their large intestine (colon).

• Impacted matter seeps through the colon wall into our blood stream and depresses our Immune System.

• Impacted colons are primarily due to a high fat diet in America and lack of regular cleansing.

Page 4: The Five Systems of the Body By: George La Du “The way to health and vitality” 8/2004

• The Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) from U.S. government of fiber is

25 grams per day

• Colon Cancer has become the number 3 cancer in America

• Many sicknesses and diseases find their roots in toxic Elimination Systems

• We carry toxins in our fat cells from childhood

• It is essential to modify diet to a higher fiber diet avoiding fats and dairy while cleansing

• Colon cleansing should contain the ingredient bentonite or activated charcoal (should be done periodically)

• Have a Colon maintenance product that creates good Flora

NOW THAT WE KNOW, WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT IT?

Page 9: The Five Systems of the Body By: George La Du “The way to health and vitality” 8/2004

• A small amount of NANCY'S yogurt (or a health food store yogurt) daily

• There are a variety good cleansing programs from your local health store (be sure they include the steps above)

• Take daily a duo-phase enzyme product

• The heart of the Immune System is the body's ability to communicate on the cellular level (cell to cell communication, Harper's Biochemistry, 1996)

• High speed cell to cell communication is directly dependent on the body's ability to manufacture glycoprotein's which cover the cells

Page 12: The Five Systems of the Body By: George La Du “The way to health and vitality” 8/2004

• Our foods today have only two (glucose and galactose) of the eight essential ingredients our bodies need in order to manufacture glycoprotein's.

• Our bodies can synthesize the other six ingredients (monosaccharide) from the two but it is a very long and arduous process.

Cell communication, or signal transduction, is simply the means by which cells in the body respond to signals coming from outside those cells.

"The purpose of this chemical communication is to coordinate functions inside the cell, between cells or between organs in the body, allowing us the means to respond to our external environment," says Lee L. Limbird, Ph.D., professor and chair of pharmacology.

Get all eight essential monosaccharides from different plant sources.

Now we know Cell Communication is important to a healthy Immune System.

What can we do to improve it?

Page 18: The Five Systems of the Body By: George La Du “The way to health and vitality” 8/2004

Here are the eight essential monosaccharides necessary for maintaining a healthy Immune System.

• glucose• galactose• mannose• frucose

• xylose• n-acetyl-glucosamine• n-acetyl-galactosamine• n-acetyl-neuramnic acid

System #3

Page 20: The Five Systems of the Body By: George La Du “The way to health and vitality” 8/2004

The Defense System is that part of the Immune System that helps our bodies to eradicate toxins, bacteria, viruses, free radicals, fungi, carcinogens and other enemies of the body.

The Defense System ("Army") is made up of macrophages (white blood cells), enzymes,

anti-bodies, the lymph and lymph nodes.

Page 21: The Five Systems of the Body By: George La Du “The way to health and vitality” 8/2004

Nutrients supply "energy to the Defense "Army" while they are in the bloodstream. Anti-Oxidants are nutrients that supply food or help the “Army” eradicate the enemy. Once an enemy of the body enters into a cell, the nutrients are too large to enter the cell and are not able to help the "army" continue the eradication of the enemy.

Phyto-chemicals are small enough!

Page 22: The Five Systems of the Body By: George La Du “The way to health and vitality” 8/2004

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) discovered nutrients that are small enough to enter into the cell and therefore assist the "army" in removing enemies from the cell and therefore the body These nutrients are called Phyto-chemicals (Phyto means plant, so these are the good plant chemicals).

FACTS you should Know

Page 23: The Five Systems of the Body By: George La Du “The way to health and vitality” 8/2004

Phyto-chemicals are released into the plant (fruit or vegetable) at

the point of vine maturation (when they become ripe), so eat

vine ripened fruits and vegetables.

There are over 300 different known

Phyto-chemicals

Page 24: The Five Systems of the Body By: George La Du “The way to health and vitality” 8/2004

• There is a direct correlation between the lack of Phyto-chemicals in our diet today and disease on the increase.

• When was the last

time you ate a vine ripened fruit or vegetable?

Page 25: The Five Systems of the Body By: George La Du “The way to health and vitality” 8/2004

The Defense SystemThe Defense System

The NCI has identified the fruits and vegetables with the most Phyto-chemicals

in them.

Although a story about Phyto-chemicals was on the front cover of NEWSWEEK (April 25,1994) and many studies done on Phyto-chemicals, why haven't we heard much about them?

Now that we know that we need Phyto-Chemicals & Anti-Oxidants to help us prevent diseases and improve our Defense System…

How do we get them?

Page 29: The Five Systems of the Body By: George La Du “The way to health and vitality” 8/2004

Eat eight servings of vine ripened fruits and vegetables daily

Supplement with products that are flash dried vine ripened fruits and vegetables

Anti-oxidants provide a needed support mechanism

GOAL:

Foods that contain optimum quantities of vitamins and minerals and other micro-nutrients are ideal.

Energy comes from calories consumed and burned.

Page 32: The Five Systems of the Body By: George La Du “The way to health and vitality” 8/2004

Our foods need to be supplemented for our bodies to receive the needed nutrients and ideally these

supplements would

be in a "Food Matrix"

Page 33: The Five Systems of the Body By: George La Du “The way to health and vitality” 8/2004

• The energy or "fuel" system is what gives us strength or energy throughout the day

• We get this energy from our foods

• Dr. Peter Wood, a research doctor of nutrition, states that in the last 50 years our soils have lost 87% of their nutrients

Page 34: The Five Systems of the Body By: George La Du “The way to health and vitality” 8/2004

• "Dead" foods (foods with relatively no nutritional value) are rampant in the American diet

• Deep fried and fast foods are a multi-billion dollar industry

• Canned foods have lost 50% of their nutrients, cooked foods - 50% dried foods - 7% to 10% micro

waved foods - 90%

• Eat a balanced supplement of Vitamins,

Minerals, Trace Minerals, Anti-Oxidant Cofactors and Co-Q10

• Avoid "Dead Foods" and deep fried foods

• Supplement accordingly with a "food matrix" supplement

Page 38: The Five Systems of the Body By: George La Du “The way to health and vitality” 8/2004

The "mother hormone”, dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) reaches peak production between the ages of 20-25. By age 65, we only have 5% production of DHEA.

The "mother" hormone "turns itself into" any one of the sixteen different hormones our adrenal glands produces to help bring our hormonal system into balance (homeostasis).

Page 39: The Five Systems of the Body By: George La Du “The way to health and vitality” 8/2004

We are able to produce very little of the Phytosterols from our foods today. The real problem is that we do not get enough Phytosterols from foods--only about 3-5 mgs vs the 50-75 mgs other cultures get.

We need essential phytosterols which the body can then EASILY convert to DHEA.

Page 40: The Five Systems of the Body By: George La Du “The way to health and vitality” 8/2004

• Dioscorea (the Mexican Yam) is a precursor for DHEA

• Not all Mexican Yams are equal - Only 20% contain the DHEA potential

• Even within the 20% of yams that do, there is a great range of potential (i.e. some might have a 5% potential while others might have an 80% potential)

Page 41: The Five Systems of the Body By: George La Du “The way to health and vitality” 8/2004

Your body "knows" what it needs and eliminates the rest.

Nutraceuticals are natural substances with scientific evidence that provide support without toxicity or chance of overdosing

Get a "standardized" Mexican Yam product (i.e. in each pill you are receiving the same amount of DHEA potential) that is a nutraceutical

Eat a small amount of Nancy's yogurt daily

Now that we know, what can we do to get our Hormonal System corrected?

Page 44: The Five Systems of the Body By: George La Du “The way to health and vitality” 8/2004

In conclusion, when we regularly support the five systems of the body;

• The Elimination System• The Immune System• The Defense System• The Energy System• The Hormonal System

We begin to see the body function as it was designed to do, producing health and vitality.
