The Fifth Sunday of Lent – THE KEY OF HONESTY
Honesty is reflected in our words and deeds.
Honesty allows a life of confidence and dignity.
It requires courage and boldness to be truthful at all times
What are the chains that bind you and prevent you acknowledging
the times you took the easy way out?
As you enter Holy Week, use your KEY to UNLOCK the Chains that bind you and prevent
the real freedom to receive EASTER JOY.
We are an Easter People and Alleluia is our Song.

Introduction
Today’s readings are filled, not only with examples of God’s abundant mercy and love, but of right living.
Paul reminds us that everything outside of the pursuit of Christ is rubbish. And if we are to call ourselves
followers of Christ, we must keep our focus on what lies ahead. Let us begin by letting go of our judgments and our earthly desires so we may enter into this time
with our minds and hearts lifted completely to God.
First Reading Isaiah 43:16-21
Remember not the events of the past; I am doing something new!
Responsorial Psalm
The Lord has done great things for us; we are filled with joy.
Second Reading St Paul to the Philippians 3:18-14
Continue to pursue God’s upward calling.
Gospel Acclaimation
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ, king of endless glory! With all you heart turn to me,
For I am tender and compassionate. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ, king of endless glory!
Gospel John 8:1-11
Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more
Prayers of the Faithful For the whole church that is need of forgiveness and
mercy … remembering your mercy, we pray,
For those of us who lay heavy burdens on others by judging or condemning them … remembering your
mercy, we pray,
For those whose past mistakes cause them to live with burdens of guilt or shame … remembering your mercy,
we pray,
For the grace to forgive those who have offended us, or to make amends with those whom we have offended …
remembering your mercy, we pray,
For peace in a world in turmoil, especially for women, men and children who have never known peace …
remembering your mercy, we pray,
For those preparing for baptism or reception into the church at Easter … remembering your mercy, we pray
For those who have suffered abuse, physical or mental
at the hands of others, especially those who have been betrayed by the church … remembering your mercy, we
pray,
For the needy, the sick and the dying among us; and for those who have died … remembering your mercy,
we pray,
Let us pray together.... God of mercy,
we lift these prayers to you, not that they will change you, but that you will change our hearts, so we may better respond to the needs of our brothers and sisters. We ask all this in the name of Jesus, our constant guide and companion. Amen.
