THE FESTIVAL OF SACRIFICE

( CELEBRATED DURING THE LAST MONTH OF THE MUSLIM CALENDAR)

Sacrifice is a worship of the others

. Meaning victim of worship is becoming closer to Allah.It is cutting an animal which is appropriate for victim with the intension of worship.

‘’ NEITHER MEATS NOR BLOOD OF THESE ANIMALS WILL REACH TO ALLAH , BUT YOUR DEEDS AND WORSHIPS WHICH ARE FAR FROM SHOW WILL REACH TO HIM.‘’ ( Hacc Qur’an 37)

In the second year of the Hegira victims of worship to be started.

Sacrificing days are the twelfth month of Muslim calendar the tenth, eleventh, twelfth days

BIRTH OF SACRIFICE

According to Muslim belief Prophet İbrahim was put to a tough test by Allah to prove his faith.He was asked to sacrifice his son İsmail and without any hesitation Prophet İbrahim and his son İsmail accepted the offering .They went to Mount of Mina and when Prophet İbrahim would do this, a ram was brought there by Cebrail, and said that ‘’Sacrifice this, not İsmail.’’Since this event Muslims all over the world offer sacrifices on this festival day.

HOW DO WE CELEBRATE THIS FESTİVAL?

Devout Muslims of all ages go to mosques to pray in the mornings.

Everybody kiss old people’s hand.

Every Muslim ,who can afford, to sacrifice an animal.The meat is then divided three parts: one part for the poor, another for friends and relatives, and whatever remains for the family.
