All: We acknowledge that much is broken, and yet we believe in working for renewal, for justice and peace.

Weekly Prayer Waiting and Longing (On reading Daniel) God of the seasons, God of the years, God of the eons, Alpha and Omega, before us and after us.

The Federated Church Weekly News

August 19, 2018

You promise and we wait: we wait with eager longing we wait amid doubt and anxiety, we wait with patience thin and the doubt, and then we take life into our own hands. We wait because you are the one and the only one. We wait for your peace and your mercy, For your justice and your good rule. Give us your spirit that we may wait Obediently and with discernment, Caringly and without passivity, Trustingly without cynicism, Honestly and without utopianism. Grant that our wait may be appropriate to your coming soon and very soon, soon and not late, late but not too late We wait while the world groans in eager longing. -Walter Brueggemann, Prayers for a Privileged People

The Federated Church of Hyannis Congregational Survey

Survey Introduction

Calling on the Spirit of God’s Guidance for our future

The Transition Team, (endorsed by the Church Committee and commissioned by the Congregation of The Federated Church), is initiating this survey for two purposes:

a. to collect information that will inform and help us complete the church profile to select our next settled pastor. This survey updates the one we completed 4 years ago.

b. help us learn more about the church and its members so we can be in a stronger position to inform potential candidates about -who we are, and what God is calling us to become.

We are encouraging everyone regardless of your current level of involvement in the life

and ministries of The Federated Church (hereafter referred to as (“Our Church”) to

complete the survey. We want to hear from each of you, from those who have been long

time members as well as from those new to Our Church. We want to hear all views,

opinions, and perspectives. Remember there are no right or wrong answers.

The survey is available in both web and print versions. We have mailed copies to everyone

in the data base. If you have not received one, please update your mailing address if

needed. You can also pick up printed copies in the Narthex.

We would like all surveys completed by Friday, August 24, whether online or by hand.

Hand completed surveys should be returned to the church office no later than that date.

We will share and discuss the survey results at the All Church meeting on Sunday,

September 16th.

The Transition Team deeply appreciates your help, and thanks you for taking the time to

provide your thoughts and views. In addition to completing the survey, we pray that the

process is helpful in reflecting on your faith, the meaning of your church experience, and

your hopes and dreams for the future. May God richly bless you!
