SEASONAL SENTENCE

Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory.

Isaiah 6.3

THE GATHERING OF THE COMMUNITY (Page 230) Celebrant: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the

fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. All: And with thy spirit.

Almighty God, unto whom all hearts be open, all desires known, and from

whom no secrets are hid: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the

inspiration of thy Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love thee, and worthily

magnify thy holy name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE SUMMARY OF THE LAW

Celebrant: Our Lord Jesus Christ said: hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is

one Lord; and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with

all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength. This is the first

and great commandment. And the second is like unto it: thou shalt love thy

neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the

prophets. All: Lord, have mercy upon us, and write both these thy laws in our hearts,

we beseech thee.

THE GLORIA

Glory be to God on high, and in earth peace, good will towards men. We

praise thee, we bless thee, we worship thee, we glorify thee, we give thanks to

thee for thy great glory, O Lord God, heavenly king, God the Father

almighty.

O Lord, the only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ; O Lord God, Lamb of God,

Son of the Father, that takest away the sin of the world, have mercy upon us.

Thou that takest away the sin of the world, receive our prayer.

Thou that sittest at the right hand of God the Father, have mercy upon us.

For thou only art holy; thou only art the Lord; thou only, O Christ, with the

Holy Ghost, art most high in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

THE COLLECT

Celebrant: Let us pray

Father, we praise you: through your Word and Holy Spirit you created all

things. You reveal your salvation in all the world by sending to us Jesus

Christ, the Word made flesh. Through your Holy Spirit you give us a share

in your life and love. Fill us with the vision of your glory, that we may always

serve and praise you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and

ever. Amen.

THE FIRST READING: Isaiah 6:1-8

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and

lofty; and the hem of his robe filled the temple. Seraphs were in attendance above

him; each had six wings: with two they covered their faces, and with two they

covered their feet, and with two they flew. And one called to another and said:

"Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory." The

pivots on the thresholds shook at the voices of those who called, and the house

filled with smoke. And I said: "Woe is me! I am lost, for I am a man of unclean

lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips; yet my eyes have seen the King,

the Lord of hosts!" Then one of the seraphs flew to me, holding a live coal that

had been taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. The seraph touched my mouth

with it and said: "Now that this has touched your lips, your guilt has departed and

your sin is blotted out." Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I

send, and who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I; send me!"

Reader: The Word of the Lord

All: Thanks be to God.

PSALM 29 (Page 738)

1 Ascribe to the Lord, you gods, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.

2 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the beauty

of holiness.

3 The voice of the Lord is upon the waters; the God of glory thunders; the

Lord is upon the mighty waters.

4 The voice of the Lord is a powerful voice; the voice of the Lord is a voice of

Lebanon;

7 The voice of the Lord splits the flames of fire; the voice of the Lord shakes

the wilderness; the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.

8 The voice of the Lord makes the oak trees writhe and strips the forests

bare.

9 And in the temple of the Lord all are crying, “Glory!”

10 The Lord sits enthroned above the flood; the Lord sits enthroned as king

for evermore.

11 The Lord shall give strength to his people; the Lord shall give his people

the blessing of peace.

God of mystery and power, open our eyes to the flame of your love, and open

our ears to the thunder of your justice, that we may receive your gifts of

blessing and peace, to the glory of your name; through Jesus Christ our

Lord. Amen.

THE SECOND READING: Romans 8:12-17

So then, brothers and sisters, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to

the flesh - for if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit

you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For all who are led by the

Spirit of God are children of God. For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to

fall back into fear, but you have received a spirit of adoption. When we cry,

"Abba! Father!" it is that very Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are

children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with

Christ - if, in fact, we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him.

THE GOSPEL

Reader: The Lord be with you. All: And with thy spirit. Reader: The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John (3:1-

17)

All: Glory be to thee, O Lord.

Now there was a Pharisee named Nicodemus, a leader of the Jews. He came to

Jesus by night and said to him, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has

come from God; for no one can do these signs that you do apart from the

presence of God." Jesus answered him, "Very truly, I tell you, no one can see the

kingdom of God without being born from above." Nicodemus said to him, "How

can anyone be born after having grown old? Can one enter a second time into the

mother's womb and be born?" Jesus answered, "Very truly, I tell you, no one can

Page 6: The Feast of The Holy Trinity May 31, 2015 BISHOPS’ & CLERGY … · 2015-05-29 · Reader: The Gospel of Christ. All: Praise be to thee, O Christ. HOMILY THE NICENE CREED (Page

enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit. What is born of

the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be astonished that

I said to you, 'You must be born from above.' The wind blows where it chooses,

and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes from or where

it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit." Nicodemus said to him,

"How can these things be?" Jesus answered him, "Are you a teacher of Israel,

and yet you do not understand these things? Very truly, I tell you, we speak of

what we know and testify to what we have seen; yet you do not receive our

testimony. If I have told you about earthly things and you do not believe, how

can you believe if I tell you about heavenly things? No one has ascended into

heaven except the one who descended from heaven, the Son of Man. And just as

Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted

up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life. For God so loved the

world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not

perish but may have eternal life. Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world

to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him."

Reader: The Gospel of Christ.

All: Praise be to thee, O Christ.

HOMILY

THE NICENE CREED (Page 234)

All: I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth,

and of all things visible and invisible;

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the

Father before all worlds, God, of God; Light, of Light; very God, of very

God; begotten, not made; being of one substance with the Father; through

whom all things were made: who for us and for our salvation came down

from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Ghost of the Virgin Mary, and

was made man, and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He

suffered and was buried, and the third day he rose again according to the

scriptures, and ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of the

Father. And he shall come again with glory to judge both the quick and the

dead: whose kingdom shall have no end.

And I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceedeth

from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son together is

worshipped and glorified, who spake by the prophets.

And I believe one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. I acknowledge one

baptism for the remission of sins. And I look for the resurrection of the dead,

and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Come unto me all that labour and are heavy laden, and I will refresh you.

Matthew 1.28

God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, to the end that

all that believe in him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3.16

Hear also what Saint Paul saith. This is a true saying, and worthy of all to be received, that Christ Jesus came

into the world to save sinners. 1 Timothy 1.15

Hear also what Saint John saith. If anyone sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the

righteous; and he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but

also for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2.1,2

Let us humbly confess our sins to almighty God.

All: Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Maker of all things and

judge of all people: we acknowledge and confess our manifold sins and

wickedness, which we from time to time most grievously have committed, by

thought, word and deed, against thy divine majesty. We do earnestly repent,

and are heartily sorry for these our misdoings. Have mercy upon us, most

merciful Father; for thy Son our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, forgive us all that

is past; and grant that we may ever hereafter serve and please thee in

newness of life, to the honour and glory of thy name; Through Jesus Christ

our Lord. Amen.

Celebrant: Almighty God, our heavenly Father, who of his great mercy hath

promised forgiveness of sins to all them that with hearty repentance and

true faith turn unto him: have mercy upon you; pardon and deliver you

from all your sins; confirm and strengthen you in all goodness; and bring

you to everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

All: Amen.

THE PEACE

Celebrant: The Peace of the Lord be always with you.

All: And with thy spirit.

Please greet one another with a sign of peace.

OFFERTORY (Holy, Holy, Holy)

PRAYER OVER THE GIFTS

Living God, receive all we offer you this day. Grant that hearing your word

and responding to your Spirit, we may share in your divine life. We ask this

in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord. Amen.

EUCHARISTIC PRAYER B (Page 243) Celebrant: The Lord be with you. People: And with thy spirit.

Celebrant: Lift up your hearts. People: We lift them up unto the Lord.

Celebrant: Let us give thanks unto our Lord God. People: It is meet and right so to do.

It is very meet, right, and our bounden duty, that we should at all times, and

in all places, give thanks unto thee, O Lord, holy Father, almighty,

everlasting God, creator and preserver of all things.

For with thy co-eternal Son and Holy Spirit, thou art one God, one Lord, in

trinity of persons and in unity of substance; and we celebrate the one and

equal glory of thee, O Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Therefore with angels and archangels, and with all the company of heaven,

we laud and magnify thy glorious name; evermore praising thee and saying:

All: Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of Hosts, heaven and earth are full of thy

glory. Glory be to thee, O Lord most high. Blessed is he that cometh in the

name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.

Please kneel or sit as you are able.

Celebrant: All glory be to thee, O Lord our God, who didst make us in thine

own image; and, of thy tender mercy, didst give thine only Son Jesus Christ

to take our nature upon him, and to suffer death upon the cross for our

redemption. He made there a full and perfect sacrifice for the whole world;

and did institute, and in his holy Gospel command us to

continue, a perpetual memory of that his precious death and

sacrifice, until his coming again; who, in the same night that he

was betrayed, took bread; and when he had given thanks to

thee, he broke it, and gave it to His disciples, saying, “Take, eat,

this is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance

of me.”

Likewise, after supper, he took the cup; and when he had given

thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink this, all of you; for

this is my Blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you, and

for many, for the remission of sins. Do this, as oft as ye shall

drink it, in remembrance of me.”

Wherefore, O Lord and heavenly Father, we thy people do celebrate and

make, with these thy holy gifts which we now offer unto thee, the memorial

thy Son hath commanded us to make; having in remembrance his blessed

Page 10: The Feast of The Holy Trinity May 31, 2015 BISHOPS’ & CLERGY … · 2015-05-29 · Reader: The Gospel of Christ. All: Praise be to thee, O Christ. HOMILY THE NICENE CREED (Page

passion and precious death, his mighty resurrection and glorious ascension;

and looking for his coming again with power and great glory.

And we most humbly beseech thee, O merciful Father, to hear us, and, with

thy Word and Holy Spirit, to bless and sanctify these gifts of bread and wine,

that they may be unto us the body and blood of thy dearly-beloved Son Jesus

Christ.

All: We praise thee, we bless thee, we thank thee, and we pray to thee, Lord

our God.

And we earnestly desire thy fatherly goodness to accept this our sacrifice of

praise and thanksgiving, whereby we offer and present unto thee, O Lord,

ourselves, our souls and bodies. Grant, we beseech thee, that all who partake

of this holy communion may worthily receive the most precious body and

blood of thy Son Jesus Christ, and be filled with thy grace and heavenly

benediction; and also that we and all thy whole Church may be made one

body with him, that he may dwell in us, and we in him; through the same

Jesus Christ our Lord; By whom, and with whom, and in whom, in the unity

of the Holy Spirit all honour and glory be unto thee, O Father Almighty,

world without end. Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER

Celebrant: And now, as our Saviour Christ hath taught us, we are bold to

say,

People: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom

come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily

bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass

against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For

thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD

Celebrant: Alleluia! Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us;

People: Therefore, let us keep the feast. Alleluia!

O Lamb of God, that takest away the sin of the world: have mercy upon us. O Lamb of God, that takest away the sin of the world: have mercy upon us. O Lamb of God, that takest away the sin of the world: grant us thy peace.

Celebrant: The Gifts of God for the People of God. All: Thanks be to God.

PROCESIONAL HYMN 334 Holy God, We Praise Your Name

Holy God, we praise your name, Lord of all, we bow before you.

All on earth your sceptre claim; all in heaven above adore you.

Infinite your vast domain; ever lasting in your reign.

Hark, the glad celestial hymn angel choirs above are raising

Cherubim and seraphim, in unceasing chorus praising,

Fill the heavens with sweet accord; “Holy, holy, holy Lord.”

Lo, the apostolic train join the sacred name to hallow;

Prophets swell the glad refrain, and the white robed martyrs follow;

And from morn to set of sun through the church the song goes on.

Glory through eternity: Spirit, Word, and blest Creator.

God of gracious tenderness, at your feet we sinners gather;

Light and mercy, now, we pray, give your people for this day.

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!

Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee.

Which wert and art, and evermore shalt be.

Holy, holy, holy! Tho’ the darkness hide Thee,

Tho’ the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see.

Only Thou art holy- There is none beside Thee,

Perfect in pow’r, in love in purity.

THE GOSPEL

Reader: The Lord be with you.

All: And also with you.

Reader: The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John (3:1-

17)

All: Glory to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Page 15: The Feast of The Holy Trinity May 31, 2015 BISHOPS’ & CLERGY … · 2015-05-29 · Reader: The Gospel of Christ.

All: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!

All Thy works shall praise Thy name in earth, and sky, and sea.

Holy, holy holy! Merciful and mighty!

God in three Persons, Blessèd Trinity!

SERMON

THE NICENE CREED (Page 188)

Celebrant: Let us confess our faith, as we say,

All: We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and

earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally

begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true

God, begotten, not made, of one being with the Father. Through him all

things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven:

by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,

and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he

suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance

with the scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand

of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,

and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from

the Father. With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. He

has spoken through the prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one

baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead,

and the life of the world to come. Amen.

THE CONFESSION & ABSOLUTION (Page 191)

Celebrant: Dear friends in Christ, God is steadfast in love and infinite in

mercy; he welcomes sinners and invites them to his table. Let us confess our

sins, confident in God’s forgiveness.

Silence

All: Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in

thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left

undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our

neighbours as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the

sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us, that we may

delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your name.

Amen.

Celebrant: Almighty God have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you

from all your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness, and keep you

in eternal life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE PEACE

Celebrant: The Peace of the Lord be always with you. All: And also with you.

Please greet one another with a sign of peace.

OFFERTORY HYMN 444 Your Hand, O God, Has Guided

Your hand, O God, has guided your flock from age to age;

The wondrous tale is written, full clear, on every page;

Our forebearers owned your goodness, and we their deeds record;

And both of this bear witness, “One Church, one Faith, one Lord.”

Your heralds brought glad tidings, to greatest, as to least;

They bade them rise, and hasten to share the royal feast;

And this was all their teaching, in every deed and word,

To all alike proclaiming, “One Church, one Faith, one Lord.”

When shadows thick were falling, engulfed the world in night,

You summoned forth your servants, your messengers of light.

On them and on your people your plenteous grace was poured,

And this was still their message: “One Church, one Faith, one Lord.”

Page 18: The Feast of The Holy Trinity May 31, 2015 BISHOPS’ & CLERGY … · 2015-05-29 · Reader: The Gospel of Christ. All: Praise be to thee, O Christ. HOMILY THE NICENE CREED (Page

And we, shall we be faithless? Shall hearts fail, hands hang down?

Shall we evade the struggle and cast away our crown?

Not so: in God’s deep counsels some better thing is stored:

The covenant of promise –“One Church, one Faith, one Lord.”

Your mercy will not fail us, nor leave your work undone;

With your right hand to help us, your people shall be one;

And then, by men all creation, your name shall be adored,

And this shall be their anthem, “One Church, one Faith, one Lord.” .

PRAYER OVER THE GIFTS

Celebrant: Living God, receive all we offer you this day. Grant that hearing

your word and responding to your Spirit, we may share in your divine life.

We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord. Amen

EUCHARISTIC PRAYER 1 (Page 193)

Celebrant: The Lord is with you.

People: And also with you.

Celebrant: Lift up your hearts.

People: We lift them to the Lord.

Celebrant: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

People: It is right to give our thanks and praise.

Celebrant: It is indeed right that we should praise you, gracious God, for you

created all things. You formed us in your own image: male and female you

created us. When we turned away from you in sin, you did not cease to care

for us, but opened a path of salvation for all people. You made a covenant

with Israel, and through your servants Abraham and Sarah gave the promise

of a blessing to all nations. Through Moses you led your people from bondage

into freedom; through the prophets you renewed your promise of salvation.

Therefore, with them, and with all your saints who have served you in every

age, we give thanks and raise our voices to proclaim the glory of your name.

All: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might. Holy, holy, holy Lord,

God of power and might. Heaven and earth are full, full of your glory.

Hosanna in the highest, hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in

the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest, hosanna in the highest.

Please kneel or sit as you are able.

Holy God, source of life and goodness, all creation rightly gives you praise. In

the fullness of time, you sent your Son Jesus Christ, to share our human

nature, to live and die as one of us, to reconcile us to you, the God and Father

Page 19: The Feast of The Holy Trinity May 31, 2015 BISHOPS’ & CLERGY … · 2015-05-29 · Reader: The Gospel of Christ. All: Praise be to thee, O Christ. HOMILY THE NICENE CREED (Page

19

of all. He healed the sick and ate and drank with outcasts and sinners; he

opened the eyes of the blind and proclaimed the good news of your kingdom

to the poor and to those in need. In all things he fulfilled your gracious will.

On the night he freely gave himself to death, our Lord Jesus

Christ took bread, and when he had given thanks to you, he

broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, “ Take, eat: this is

my body which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of

me.”

After supper he took the cup of wine; and when he had given

thanks, he gave it to them, and said, “ Drink this, all of you: this

is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for

many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this

for the remembrance of me.”

Gracious God, his perfect sacrifice destroys the power of sin and death; by

raising him to life you give us life for evermore. Therefore we proclaim the

mystery of faith.

All: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.

Recalling his death, proclaiming his resurrection, and looking for his coming

again in glory, we offer you, Father, this bread and this cup. Send your Holy

Spirit upon us and upon these gifts, that all who eat and drink at this table

may be one body and one holy people, a living sacrifice in Jesus Christ, our

Lord. Through Christ, with Christ, and in Christ, in the unity of the Holy

Spirit, all glory is yours, almighty Father, now and for ever. Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER Celebrant: As our Saviour taught us, let us pray, People: Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, Hallowed be thy name.

As in heaven so on earth, Hallowed be thy name.

Give us this day our daily bread, Hallowed be thy name.

And forgive us, Father, all our debts, hallowed be thy name.

As we forgive all our debtors, Hallowed be thy name.

And lead us not into temptation, Hallowed be thy name.

But deliver us from all that is evil, Hallowed be thy name.

For thine is the kingdom, power and glory, Hallowed be thy name.

Forever and forever and ever, Hallowed be thy name.

Amen, amen, it shall be so, Hallowed be thy name.

Amen, amen, it shall be so, Hallowed be thy name.

THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD – 2 (page 212)

Celebrant: We break this bread to share in the body of

Christ.

People: We, being many, are one body, for we all share in

the one bread.

COMMUNION HYMN 436 vv 1,2, 5,6 I Bind Unto Myself

I bind unto myself today the strong Name of the Trinity,

By invocation of the same, the Three in One, and One in Three.

I bind this day to me for ever, by power of faith, Christ's Incarnation;

His baptism in Jordan river; His death on cross for my salvation;

His bursting from the spicèd tomb; His riding up the heavenly way;

His coming at the day of doom: I bind unto myself today.

Christ be with me, Christ within me, Christ behind me, Christ before me,

Christ beside me, Christ to win me, Christ to comfort and restore me.

Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,

Christ in hearts of all that love me, Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.

I bind unto myself today the strong Name of the Trinity,

SABBATH LEAVE Canon Stephen is on sabbath leave from June 1-Sept 30. The Rev. Paul Walker is serving as Priest-in-Charge and will celebrate Holy Eucharist on Sundays & Wednesdays (note: There is no Wednesday service in August). He is also available for pastoral ministrations as needed during the week. He can be reached at 905 889 5931 ext. 25 or at [email protected]. We welcome him into our community.

WORSHIP REVIEW GROUP At our Vestry Meeting it was suggested that a committee be tasked to review our worship experience at the 10:00 a.m. service. A committee, comprising Jane Winstanley (convenor), Jacqui Getfield, Rebecca Jones, Elaine Pudwell, Malcom Shiner, Rowena Zealey and Canon Stephen has begun this work. The terms of reference of the committee are as follows: engage the parish in a review of our 10:00 a.m. worship recommend ways in which our worship experiences can

be enriched reflect the mission of our parish encourage all ideas We engage this work with the understanding that worship is a celebration of, and our response to God. This celebration ought to be, inclusive, engaging, lifegiving, empowering, affirming, a time to offer something to God and transformational.

We are seeking your honest responses to the following questions: In our worship service (1) What should we CONTINUE to do? (2) What should we STOP doing? (3) What should we START to do? (4) Have you been to another service - or heard about another service - that engaged you? Tell us what you liked about that service. Please send your response to [email protected]. Printed Questionnaires sheets and response collection boxes are available at church entrances.

EVA REA BURSARY FUND The Eva Rea Bursary Fund is accepting applications for 2015. This program is available to youth who are/have been active members to help in pursuing further education. Applications forms can be requested by email to: [email protected]. Deadline for application is June 15.

CHAPEL ALTAR One of our aims is to make the worship experience as welcoming and as inclusive as possible. Those who attend the Wednesday mid-week Eucharist will tell you about the intimate conversations they have sitting together. Then that all changes when the celebrant turns his back on them to celebrate the Eucharist. That posture “went out” in the 70’s and early 80’s. What is needed on Wednesday is the experience on Sunday! The Advisory Board supported a proposal to move the chapel altar off the wall to allow the celebrant to stand behind it, facing the people, rather than standing between the people and altar. With the support of the congregation, not only will the altar be moved forward but casters will be placed on its based so that it can be moved to be used for the seniors’ eucharist at Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and the beginning of summer. Currently a table is taken from the vestry and used as an altar. The congregation will be asked for their input in October.

ENDOWMENT FUND Please be reminded that requests for money from the Holy Trinity Endowment Fund should be submitted by Tuesday, June 30, 2015 to Ray Burton or the Endowment Fund mailbox at the foot of the stairs.

GIFTS for FESTIVAL OF CHRISTMAS If you are cleaning cupboards/drawers over the summer months, Janet Marambio of Rebecca Group, is looking for NEW items to include in her “Lucky Dip “ gift packages offered for sale at the Christmas Festival. Suggestions: photo frames/mini albums, hand/tea towels, stationary, hand soaps, body lotions, scarves/gloves/fancy handkerchiefs, kitchen/glass wares, etc. (see bulletin board for details). Items can be left with Swan/Jesus throughout summer. We hope to start wrapping in September, so your help would be much appreciated.

WELCOME TEAM for 10:00 am SERVICES June, July & August If you are able to assist as a sidesperson/greeter during the summer weeks, please speak to Peter Paterson or call him at 905 889 5532. Thank you

VIDEO PROJECTION We have sought & received quotes from three potential suppliers. The Property Committee is reviewing & evaluating the proposals and will submit recommendation to the Wardens and Advisory Board.

There are challenges involved in configuring a building that was constructed in 1830 for fittings that were conceived and created 200 years later. It is acknowledged that, whatever the size of the screen/monitor, a portion of the stained glass windows will be obscured. This is

part of the trade-off for the functionality it will provide.

We have mounted a “demonstration monitor” (this is one option). There will be other monitors in the body of the church. Another option is a much larger screen hanging over the altar (we are considering mounting a second demonstration to show this). The Property Committee welcomes your feedback. Please share with Ron Tolhurst or Eric Preston.

VAUGHAN CULTURE DAYS September 2015 To highlight the 185 Anniversary, we plan to participate in Vaughan Culture Days Week-end on September 26-27. It is an opportunity to show our beautiful church and the history as it unfolded in the 1800’s. Also, inviting people into our space shows that we are a vibrant part of the community. We need volunteers to be the guides of church tours. You will receive info package & training before summer. Please contact Linda Robertson at 905 881 1936, or by e-mail at [email protected].

PILGRIMAGE TO JERUSALEM IN 2017 Bishop Peter Fenty has invited all Incumbents, Associate Priests, Assistant Curates, other salaried Clergy, and interested lay persons in our Episcopal area to join him on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem in May 2017. The pilgrimage will take the form of a course "The Palestine of Jesus" at St. George's College.

The current cost, which includes tuition, board, lodging, transportation and gratuities, is $3,050. Airfare is in the vicinity of $1,700. More info may be found at sgcjerusalem.org

If you are interested in exploring the possibility of participating in this pilgrimage, please let me send an email to [email protected]. The bishop has asked The Rev. Nicola Skinner and Canon Stephen to work with the staff of St. George's College to assist with arrangements for the trip.

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY Nothing is more life-affirming than messages reminding us how much prayer shawls matter. What follows is one received from The Rev. Lauren Hodgson, St. Matthew's United Church, Toronto who presided over the funeral of three-year-old, Elijah Marsh, whose heartbreaking death earlier this year broke our hearts. Elijah's mother, Georgette received a shawl from HTC. "Thank you for the generosity and assistance you provided St. Matthew' United Church for the funeral of Elijah Marsh on Saturday, February 28, 2015. Through your support, and the coming together of many from the community, we witnessed to the spirit of the amazing love that Elijah must have been surrounded by in his short and beautiful life. Your generosity assisted our church community to reach out to the Marsh family in a time of tragedy, helping to create space for them to grieve and gather with family and friends to remember and honour Elijah. With gratitude and heartfelt thanks - "

HEALING AND WELLNESS MINISTRY The pedometer sales have been good, but just know that they are not just an aid for those already quite active. Anyone can benefit from determining their level of activity and then trying to increase it. Scientists have shown benefits from 10 minutes of activity. I have one extra pedometer for anyone still interested.

For those of us getting back into our gardens, remember to drink water frequently when active, wear sun protection and do gardening in short bouts, especially the first couple of days. Make sure to stretch afterwards and change activities frequently to reduce muscle strain and soreness. Remember, every spring we are a year older!

Just a reminder for those who may be having difficulty getting rides to appointments. Some parishioners have offered to drive if they are free. So if you need a ride, contact Swan or myself and we may be able to find someone to help.

Planning for Fall LUNCH and LEARN is underway. Possible topic ‘Our Feet and the Importance of Proper Footwear and Their Care’. Watch for info in TRINITY NEWS in August. Have a great spring and summer.

Susan Rodgers, RN

OUTREACH As we are enjoying the summer days, the struggle of many families in our community to make ends meet continues. Your donation of non-perishable food items, personal use items and clothing to Richmond Hill Food Bank, All Saints Community Kitchen, and Eva’s Place during the summer weeks are greatly appreciated.
